100 Google-Tricks als Paperware
Tara Calishain hat als Herausgeberin des Newsletters Research Buzz im Laufe der Zeit viele Tipps und Tricks für den Umgang mit Google gesammelt. Unter dem Titel "Google Hacks" bringt sie jetzt gemeinsam mit Rael Dornfest eine Sammlung der wichtigsten "Industrial-Strength Tips & Tools" heraus. Auch wenn der Titel es nahelegen mag -- verbotene oder halblegale Hintertürchen für die Abfrage oder die Manipulation der Ergebnisse finden sich in dem Band nicht.

In der Entourage des irakischen Machthabers Saddam Hussein könnte sich ein "Maulwurf" befinden. Ein irakischer Offizier soll nach Angaben des US-Nachrichtenmagazins "Newsweek" der CIA Saddams Aufenthalt verraten haben. CIA-Chef Tenet empfahl daraufhin die gezielten Bombenangriffe auf den Präsidentenbunker von Donnerstagfrüh. Nach Angaben des britischen Außenministeriums wurde Saddam dabei leicht verletzt. Auch wie der Diktator dem Flammeninferno entkommen ist, will man nun wissen.

Iraqis surrender in pink pickup
Members of the U.S. Army 7th Cavalry's 3rd Squadron in south-central Iraq battled a battalion-size fighting force of the Iraqi army Sunday but remained ahead of schedule in the march to Baghdad, the Army unit's commander said.

Search for Scuds, chemical and biological weapons comes up empty thus far
U.S. troops hunting in Iraq for banned chemical and biological weapons and Scud missiles have so far come up empty, the Pentagon says. Iraq denies U.S. assertions it has any chemical or biological weapons, and Maj. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, vice director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters that none had been found.

Russia condemns 'US spy flights'
Russia has lodged a formal protest with the United States over the reported flights of US spy planes along Russia's southern borders.
Three flights of U2 strategic reconnaissance planes were said to have taken place along the border with Georgia over the past month.

US soldier 'attacks own base'
A US soldier has been arrested after a grenade attack at a rear US base camp in northern Kuwait which killed another serviceman and wounded 12 others.
A military spokesman said two grenades had been rolled into a command tent in Camp Pennsylvania, the base of the 101st US Airborne Division.
