Iraqi TV Shows Two Men Said to Be Captured U.S. Pilots

Iraqi television on Monday showed two men who it claimed were captured U.S. Apache helicopter pilots. Gen. Tommy Franks, the U.S. war commander, confirmed that one helicopter did not return from its mission and that its two-man crew was missing.

The two shown on Iraqi TV wore cream pilot overalls and did not speak to the camera but appeared confused. They turned their heads and looked in different directions as the camera filmed them.

Hotmail restricts outgoing messages

Microsoft’s MSN Hotmail, a free Web-based e-mail service, has tightened restrictions on daily outbound messages sent by subscribers, a tactic it says will help curb spam. THE REDMOND, WASH.-based company said that Hotmail subscribers are now limited to sending only 100 messages a day “in an effort to prevent spammers from using Hotmail to spread spam,” said Lisa Gurry, MSN lead product manager. The change, made last week, should affect only about 1 percent of its nearly 110 million worldwide users, based on historical usage data, Gurry said.

Iraq's Saddam Hails Military on Iraqi Television

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, dressed in military uniform, appeared on state television on Monday and hailed the Iraqi military on the fifth-day of a U.S.-led invasion to overthrow him.

"We made a lot of sacrifices to avert war," Saddam said, praising the "valiant" contribution of the Iraqi military in resisting a U.S. and British war against Iraq that began on Thursday.

He said the invasion forces were "trapped" by heroic Iraqi resistance.
