NOT in my name

This is the central site for the Not in My Name Music project , a collaboration of artists dedicated to forwarding a culture of resistance worldwide . As the United States and Britain push forward with an unjustified, unsanctioned war, we urge you to help us get these songs and graphics out to as many people as possible.

To help in this cause, we are providing the MP3s for FREE download now, on the sites listed to the right. The Not In My Name EP will soon be for sale worldwide, on Ninja Tune in Europe and world, Synchronic Records here in the US. Here on the site, we also have a few graphics packages you can grab, in order to send graphics via email to friends, or post them to your website. Included, you will find html code to make an easy link from these graphics back to this site.

In Search of a Lost Cruise Missile

A Tomahawk cruise missile is not easy to lose. The very reason the U.S. military is willing to spend $750,000 a piece on the precision-guided munitions is precisely that they go exactly where they?re told. But in the past week, three U.S. Tomahawks have gone missing in the rocky plains of southeastern Turkey en route to Iraq, several hundred miles from the war zone. Five more went astray in Saudi Arabia, and a handful of others have broken up in Iran and, reportedly, Syria.

Africa's newspapers are a fruitful source of 1 April light relief, even with the news agenda dominated by the Middle East. Indeed, many of today's April Fools stories reflect current concerns by playing on an Iraqi link.

Fancy a job in Iraq?

The Kenyan Standard says "lucrative" salaries are now on offer for Kenyans willing to take up job opportunities - including ground troops and medical coroners - in the Gulf region.

MY BIRTHDAY IN BAGHDAD

I don't often get drunk, but there I was, on my balcony at the Palestine Hotel at 2am, plastic cup of champagne brandy and coke in one hand and my birthday card in the other, writes Sky News television engineer Josh Mainka in Baghdad.

Gathered around me a few hardened journalists, inside the Red Hot Chilli Peppers blasting from a Fostex speaker, the audio workhorse of the travelling television crew.
