Phone bugs found in EU building
Telephone bugs have been found in offices used by French and German delegates at a building due to host a European Union leaders' summit, an EU spokesman has said.
The bugging system was found in the EU Council Justus Lipsius building in Brussels, and affected other countries' officials as well, Dominique-Georges Marro, head of the EU Council press service, told reporters on Wednesday.

Orange-plus’ threat level in effect. THIS IS THE third time since Sept. 11, 2001, that the terrorist threat level has been raised to Code Orange. But in what several officials are calling an “orange-plus” alert, state and local officials said Washington was asking that more extensive security measures be put in place than on the previous occasions.

Activist's memorial service disrupted
Israeli forces fired teargas and stun grenades yesterday in an attempt to break up a memorial service for Rachel Corrie, the American peace activist killed by an army bulldozer in Gaza on Sunday.
Witnesses including several dozen foreigners and Palestinian supporters say Israeli armoured vehicles tried to disperse the gathering at the spot in Rafah refugee camp where Ms Corrie was crushed to death.

US troops have entered the demilitarised zone ...
...on the Iraqi border with Kuwait, according to reports.
Kuwaiti security sources said US-led forces had moved into the demilitarised zone (DMZ) in preparation for an imminent attack on Iraq.
Sky News reporter Ross Appleyard, based on the border, said the troops could encounter trenches filled with burning oil - if and when they attack.

Premiere geht gegen einen Onlineshop vor, der laut dem Pay-TV-Sender für Smartcards und Karten-Programmiergeräte mit dem Begriff "Pay-TV" geworben habe. Man habe beim Landgericht Hamburg eine einstweilige Verfügung gegen einen Onlineshop erwirkt. Der Shop habe die Produkte unter anderem damit beworben, dass sie zum illegalen Empfang von Abo-TV- Angeboten geeignet seien.

Doctors in Hong Kong identify deadly pneumonia virus
Doctors in Hong Kong have scored a major breakthrough in identifying a deadly pneumonia virus that has killed at least 11 people and left hundreds ill as it races around the world.
Medical experts said the discovery would make the disease easier to diagnose and opened the way for a vaccine to be developed. But they stressed more lab work had to be done to pin down the exact make-up of the virus and scientists had not ruled out that it might be a new strain.

Der Erreger des Schweren Akuten Atemwegssyndroms SARS gehört zur Familie der Paramyxoviren. Dies berichtete am Mittwoch die Zeitung "Hongkong Standard" unter Berufung auf das Prince of Wales Hospital und die Chinesische Universität von Hongkong.
Zur Gruppe der Paramyxoviren gehören unter anderem die Erreger von Masern, Mumps und Hundestaupe. Ärzten ist bekannt, dass diese Viren Lungenkrankheiten verursachen können.
