Schäuble löst Sudoku in Griechenland-Debatte - ARD muss Bilder löschen
Rechnen ist sein Job. Damit jedoch hatte Bundesfinanzminister Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU) sicher nicht gerechnet: Während der Bundestag über neue Milliardenhilfen für Griechenland debattierte, fing ihn eine Kamera beim Sudoku-Spielen ein. Die Bilder liefen in der ARD-Tagesschau - nach Intervention des Bundestags sind sie mittlerweile aus dem Sender-Archiv gelöscht.

DOD spending $500B on 6 preparations for cyber war
Cyber war is more than a threat, it is something the Department of Defense is spending money on as we speak. Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter outlined six ways the DOD is taking action today, as well as legislation he believes can help the government act quickly against hackers at home and abroad.
“Cyber will overtake terrorism as the persistent gnawing … kind of threat and danger,” said Carter at the RSA Conference in San Francisco today. “The market, both economic and political, undervalues security at the moment. Doesn’t see it. Doesn’t fully get it. This is wrong, this is a mistake.”

Hacker Shows Off Lethal Attack By Controlling Wireless Medical Device
In his San Francisco apartment, Barnaby Jack waves a small antenna to demonstrate how a deadly hacker attack against a diabetic would begin.
The 34-year-old is best known for hacking into cash machines and making them spit out money on stage at a Black Hat computer security conference in 2010. Today, he is hunting security holes in wireless medical devices, and his latest stunt involves insulin pumps, the pager-sized devices that diabetics wear to dispense the lifesaving hormone into the body.

Das Geschäft mit den Informationen
Im Dezember 2010 veröffentlicht Wikileaks hunderttausende geheimer Diplomaten-Depeschen der amerikanischen Regierung. Die USA sind in Aufruhr. Auch beim texanischen Informationsdienstleister Stratfor schlägt die Empörung hoch. In internen E-Mails lassen Stratfor-Mitarbeiter ihren Emotionen freien Lauf. Julian Assange, der Gründer der Enthüllungsplattform Wikileaks, hasse „Amerika mehr als Osama bin Laden“, heißt es dort. Assange, so ein anderer Mitarbeiter, sei „ein beschissener Idiot“. Sein Kopf solle in „eine volle Toilette getunkt“ werden.

Die Neuordnung des Datenschutzes in Europa
Der Enwurf einer "Datenschutz-Grundverordnung", der von der EU-Kommission vorgestellt wurde, hat 112 Seiten. Er ist also doppelt so dick wie der ACTA-Vertrag. Und mindestens so brisant, denn er verändert das Datenschutzrecht gravierend.
Ende Jänner 2012 hat die EU-Kommission den lange erwarteten Vorschlag für eine Reform des europäischen Datenschutzrechts vorgelegt. Intention der EU-Kommission ist, den Datenschutz in Europa zu vereinheitlichen - ein Vorhaben, das mit der bisherigen EU-Datenschutz-Richtlinie aus dem Jahr 1995 nicht gelungen war. Der Vorschlag für die Reform besteht im wesentlichen aus einer Datenschutz-Grundverordnung, die 90 Artikel enthält, plus einer zusätzlichen Richtlinie.

Jetzt nicht mehr so geheim: Operation RADAR
Unter Führung der Niederlande, Deutschlands und Großbritanniens soll dem Handel von Drogen ein empfindlicher Schlag versetzt werden. Doch die lange geplante Aktion lässt sich nicht verbergen
Seit über zwei Jahren arbeiten mehrere EU-Mitgliedstaaten an einer großangelegten gemeinsamen Operation von Zoll- und Polizeibehörden. Ihr Ziel ist die Eindämmung des Schmuggels von Cannabis und Kokain. Die Operation fokussiert auf den Containerverkehr, da angenommen wird die Drogen würden größtenteils aus Afrika verschifft. RADAR wird von Deutschland und Großbritannien angeführt und soll Anfang März beginnen. Einer der Vorläufer von RADAR waren ALCHEMIST oder ULYSSE, die 2010 unter französischer Leitung sowie deutscher und slowenischer Co-Führung dem Handel mit natürlichen und synthetischen Drogen nachspürte.

Remember that being a security leader is first and foremost about leading. Too often we get bogged down in management. Managers deal with complexity, scheduling and resource allocation. Leaders deal with setting a direction and figuring out how to get there. The quote which was used in this session, which I love, was “managers follow a map, leaders follow a compass.”

“The Obama team then came to CzR and offered a ‘piece’ of the bmd system. We were excited. But when we got the formal proposal, it was for a ‘bmd scientific research center’. This was simply unacceptable. This was not good enough for us. CzR needs US military on its soil, not a ‘research’ center with no military and would have to be paid for by the Czechs anyway. Completely ridiculous. So we pulled out of any agreement to the current system.”
