Germans sold Iraq parts for supergun

Details of an alleged plot by Saddam Hussein's regime to acquire the means to deliver weapons of mass destruction were laid out before a German court yesterday.

Two German businessmen went on trial in Mannheim, charged with supplying Iraq with equipment for the manufacture of a giant cannon.

After reading the indictment, the prosecutor, Stephan Morweiser, told reporters that the weapon would be "capable of firing not only conventional, but also nuclear, biological and chemical weapons".

Your Government Is Lying To You (Again) About Marijuana

A Refutation of the Drug Czar's "Open Letter to America's Prosecutors" ALLEGATION #1 "There is a serious drug problem in this country."

TRUTH America does have a serious drug problem, and our public policy needs to better address this issue with health and science-based educational programs, and by providing more accessible treatment to those who are drug-dependent. Unfortunately, the bulk of our nation’s current anti-drug efforts and priorities remain fixated on arresting and jailing drug consumers – particularly recreational marijuana smokers.

Searching in Two Directions

Yahoo goes broad, while Google sticks to its roots. Question No. 1: What's the most useful site on the Web? It's Google.com, usually the fastest and most reliable route between question and Net-based answer. I asked 65 colleagues whether they agreed: 51 told me they visited Google at least once every business day, and 13 of them reported that they had made Google the homepage on their Web browser. It's that useful.

Reports document other dog shootings by Cookeville police officer

Here's what they reveal. In 1998, officer Hall answered a neighbor's complaint about a so-called dangerous dog. Officer Hall fired twice at the animal, saying he was, in his words, in "grave fear of this animal", when he says it lunged toward him while he was investigating the case. Three years later, in 2001, officer Hall was ordered by a supervisor, to shoot another dog labled as "dangerous" in a Cookeville neighborhood.
