Colombia decriminalizes cocaine, marijuana

Colombia has decriminalized cocaine and marijuana, saying that people cannot be jailed for possessing the drugs for personal use.

Anyone caught with less 20 grams (0.705 ounces) of marijuana or one gram (0.035 ounces) of cocaine for personal use will not be prosecuted or detained, but could be required to receive physical or psychological treatment, depending on their level of intoxication, according to Colombia Reports. Colombian Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon said law enforcement would continue its fight against drug trafficking, but would not make further comment.

So will Tesco loyalen Stammkunden das Leben erleichtern.

New European Guidelines to Address Cloud Computing

The European Commission’s panel on privacy is expected on Monday to endorse the concept of cloud computing as legal under the Continent’s privacy law and to recommend for the first time that large companies and organizations police themselves to assure that personal information kept in remote locations is protected.

The panel, known as the Article 29 Working Party, is expected to make the recommendation as part of its long-awaited guidelines on cloud computing, which have the potential, some industry experts say, to allay concerns over data privacy and pave the way for wider adoption of the remote-computing services that are more common in the United States.

Einsatz 1000 Dollar: US-Spionage-Drohne entführt

“It was funny.”

Spy drones can be hijacked by terrorists, used as weapons

Most Americans can conjure up images of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, when terrorists hijacked jetliners and used them as guided, fuel-laden missiles to cause the most casualties.

Now, imagine those scenarios being played out on a smaller, but more frequent, scale, all across the country. It's possible, if a change in U.S. policy regarding domestic airspace goes through.

Ten Great Reasons to Kill America’s Ban on Growing Hemp

America’s industrial ban on hemp is “a poster child for dumb regulation,” argues lazy ass pothead! Wait, sorry, scratch that. Make that Senator Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, introducing an amendment last week to the densely contested 2012 Farm Bill, which is either a subsidies and sustainability savior or callous food austerity, depending on who you ask. But if you ask Wyden, “the best possible Farm Bill” is one that repeals a ban on industrial hemp the United States is already quite busy, and expensively, importing from the few feet it takes to cross the Canadian border.

“I will be urging my colleagues to support this amendment,” Wyden announced last week on the Senate floor, reminding the assembled elected that his plan won’t cost American taxpayers a dime. “I want [them] to know I will be back at this again until there are smarter regulations in place.”

Drunken States Of America - DUI

For millions of Americans, the Labor Day weekend is the last big party of the summer.

For the cops and emergency medical teams of Maricopa County, Arizona - like their counterparts across the U.S. – it can mean chaos, blood, and violence.

Drunken States of America premieres on Thursday 28 June at 9pm and follows the mayhem that can be attributed to mostly one thing: alcohol!

Too many Labor Day revellers cross the line between a good time and dangerous intoxication.

The consequences can be severe, ranging from physical injuries to prison.

Cities Balk as Federal Law on Marijuana Is Enforced

Faced with growing chaos in the state’s medical marijuana industry, this city in Northern California passed an ordinance in 2008 that meticulously detailed, over 11 pages, how the drug could be grown and sold here.

Humboldt Medical Supply, a dispensary here in Humboldt County regarded as a law-abiding model that has given free cannabis to elderly patients, became the first to obtain a permit in 2010. The Sai Center, whose owner has a history of flouting city regulations and was described by the mayor as running his business “purely for profit,” was rejected last year.

KGB vs. KGB: Putin's crackdown extends to old comrades

Arrests and intimidation of political opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin have been on the upswing recently, extending even to a former KGB comrade of the Russian leader.

Gennady Gudkov is the last person you'd think of as a radical dissident. Yet he's been driven into a dangerous corner, and it looks like the Kremlin has set its sights on destroying him.

A former career KGB officer, Mr. Gudkov and his son, Dmitry, are both Duma deputies with the "loyal opposition" party Just Russia. The Gudkovs both became involved with the street protest movement that erupted last December in order to steer the protesters toward peaceful and constructive engagement with the authorities, the elder Gudkov insists.

But today, amid a wave of government actions that some protest leaders are calling "the shadow of 1937" – the year mass Stalin-era repressions began – the Gudkovs find themselves in serious trouble, with their family business all but ruined by a blizzard of state "inspections" and the pro-Kremlin United Russia party moving to expel them and another Just Russia deputy, Ilya Ponomaryov, from the Duma.
