Baby Crocodiles Stolen, Could Snap Back
Two baby crocodiles have been stolen from a German zoo, prompting police to warn the thief could have snapped up more than he can manage. The rare West African dwarf crocodiles, measuring about 12 inches when young, can grow to nearly six feet, police said.

Box mystery at Union Sq.
Straphangers bracing for a transit strike got a taste of fear and chaos yesterday when a vandal taped 38 boxes on walls and under benches in one of the city's busiest subway stations - closing the hub for five hours. Cops cleared the Union Square station shortly before 11 a.m. as bomb squad technicians gingerly collected the empty black cardboard boxes with the word FEAR written on them in white block letters.

Burglar outruns cop, steals his police car
A burglary suspect eluded police in northern Indiana by stealing the squad car of one of the officers pursuing him. Police later found the car in the garage of a LaPorte County home, but there was no one in the house. "We're just trying to regroup and find out where this guy went," said Police Chief Walter Brath.

Mexican federal agents discovered another drug tunnel under construction a block from the U.S. border in Tijuana, federal authorities said Wednesday. Found Tuesday, the partially built tunnel was more than 60 feet deep and 10 feet in diameter, the attorney general's office said in a statement. It ran under a removable section of concrete floor in an empty warehouse adjacent to a home near Otay Mesa, a border crossing for trucks.
