Polizei sucht verlorene Maschinenpistole
Ein Polizist hat in Leipzig im Einsatz seine Maschinenpistole verloren. Am Freitag sei mit Hochdruck nach der Waffe gesucht worden - zunächst jedoch erfolglos, wie Polizeisprecher Uwe Voigt sagte. Der Beamte sei am Donnerstagabend zu einem Einsatz wegen eines vermeintlichen Raubes an einer Tankstelle im Plattenbauviertel Grünau gerufen worden. Nach dessen Ende habe er ordnungsgemäß seine Ausrüstungsgegenstände überprüft - und dabei das Fehlen der Maschinenpistole festgestellt. Es handelt sich um eine Waffe des Typs Heckler & Koch MP5.

Besorgter Anrufer hörte lautes Schnaufen Die Geräusche von zwei Igeln bei der Paarung haben am Mittwochabend einen Mann im mittelfränkischen Erlangen derart irritiert, dass er die Polizei rief. "Er hörte ein lautes Schnaufen unter der Treppe am Hauseingang", sagte ein Polizeisprecher am Donnerstag. Die alarmierte Streife durchsuchte das Anwesen und entdeckte schließlich die zwei Igel.

WSJ Reporter: Homeland Security Tried to Take My Phones at the Border
On Thursday, a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reporter claimed that the Department of Homeland Security demanded access to her mobile phones when she was crossing the border at the Los Angeles airport. The case highlights the powers that border agents purport to have, and how vulnerable sensitive information can be when taken through airports in particular. “I wanted to share a troubling experience I had with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in the hopes it may help you protect your private information,” Maria Abi-Habib, a WSJ journalist focused on ISIS and Al Qaeda wrote in a post on Facebook. (Abi-Habib confirmed to Motherboard that the Facebook account was hers, but declined to comment further.)

FBI gives up on DB Cooper case after 45-year investigation
The FBI has closed the books on their 45-year hunt for skyjacker D.B. Cooper. Seattle FBI Special Agent in Charge Frank Montoya Jr. said it was his decision to halt the investigation. He said that he notified counterparts in Washington D.C., former agents and others directly impacted by the case before making the announcement. "The fact of the matter is it's sometimes difficult to come to a consensusit's time to move on," Montoya Jr. said on Tuesday. The Cooper case captivated the world for four decades.

Girlfriend Records Aftermath of Fatal Police Shooting of Minn. Man During Traffic Stop
Philando Castile, 32, died after being shot by St. Anthony, Minn., police officers while his girlfriend, Lavisha Reynolds, and her 4-year-old daughter, Diamond, were in the car. Another black man has been fatally shot by police, this time during a traffic stop Wednesday night in Falcon Heights, Minn., WCCO reports. Polizist stolperte in Güllesprengfalle
Bei einer Lasermessung entlang der Mölltal-Bundesstraße ist ein Polizist auf dem Grünstreifen in eine Sprengfalle geraten. Eine Angelschnur war mit einem Knallkörper in einem Kübel mit Gülle verbunden. Es wurde niemand verletzt.
