21st CENTURY TANK GIRL: a book by Hewlett & Martin & Co
The goal is to create a brand-spanking-new, 100 page, hardback Tank Girl book. It will feature artwork from seven different artists (some Tank Girl veterans and some new chaps), and will be written, edited, and designed by me.
This will be a truly independent venture, side-stepping the publishing industry and distribution networks, to deliver a product straight into your hands, direct from the creators.
The confirmed artists on this project are - Jamie Hewlett, Brett Parson, Warwick Johnson-Cadwell, Philip Bond, Jim Mahfood, Craig Knowles, and Jonathan Edwards.

The misty world of marijuana stocks

Dr. Rick Strassman, Autor des Buches DMT - Das Molekül des Bewusstseins, ist verantwortlich für die bahnbrechende Erforschung von Dimethyltryptamin, die nach Dekaden der Stagnation die legalen Türen für das ernsthafte Studium von Psychedelika öffnete. Zwischen 1990 und 1995 half Dr. Strassman 60 Patienten dabei, den „Sprung ins Nichts“ zu wagen. Dabei dokumentierte er ihre Erfahrungen an der medizinischen Abteilung der Universität von New Mexico. Abgesehen von seinen wissenschaftlichen Observationen hat er auch angeregt, dass DMT etwas mit den Geschichten von Entführungen durch Außerirdische zu tun haben könnte, und dass der Erguss von DMT aus der Pinealdrüße in den Fötus etwa sieben Wochen nach der Empfängnis „den Eintritt des Geistes markiert”.

NSA-Affäre: Bürgerrechtler bieten Snowden-Dokumente zum Download an
US-Bürgerrechtler haben ein Online-Archiv gestartet, das angeblich alle veröffentlichten Geheimdokumente des Whistleblowers Edward Snowden bündelt - darunter aktuelle Folien, aber auch Unterlagen, die ins Jahr 1986 zurückreichen.
Leichterer Zugriff auf Geheimdienst-Material: Die Bürgerrechts-Organisation American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) will alle bisher veröffentlichten Dokumente des Whistleblowers Edward Snowden gesammelt ins Netz stellen. Mehr als 200 PDF-Dateien hat die ACLU bereits auf ihren Servern hinterlegt. Die Dokumente enthalten überwiegend geheime Informationen über die ausufernde Überwachung der National Security Agency (NSA), des amerikanischen Geheimdienstes. In der Datenbank sollen laut ACLU alle Dokumente hinterlegt werden, die seit dem 5. Juni des vergangenen Jahres veröffentlicht wurden - von Medien, aber auch von der Regierung.

For many, many years now, we keep hearing law enforcement whine about the "threats" of anonymity and how people would be able to get away with all sorts of criminal activity if they weren't given the ability to track, monitor and tap pretty much every communications technology that has come along. A decade ago the fear was that free and open WiFi was going to be a major boon to criminals who could use it "with no trace." As we pointed out, however, nothing about using an anonymous connection like that means you won't get caught, because criminals have to do a lot of things, many of which will expose them in other ways, without having to tap and track every technological interaction. What's known as good old-fashioned detective work can often track down criminals who used tools to be anonymous -- and for years, we've pointed out many, many, many examples of this.

Netzsperren: Jetzt ist der OGH am Zug
Nach der Entscheidung des EuGH über die Zulässigkeit von Sperren ist nun der OGH als nationales Höchstgericht am Zug, mit seinem Urteil für Rechtssicherheit zu sorgen.
Nach der Entscheidung des EuGH, dass Internetsperren in der EU grundsätzlich verhängt werden können, liegt nun der Ball wieder beim Obersten Gerichtshof (OGH) der Republik Österreich. Der Spruch des EuGH geht auf ein "Vorabentscheidungsersuchen" des OGH zurück, der auch das Urteil fällen wird. Da dies das erste Urteil eines nationalen Höchstgerichts nach dem Spruch des EuGH vom Donnerstag ist, wird es in ganz Europa mit einiger Spannung erwartet.

Die dem trickreichen Design der NSA zugeschriebene Hintertür lässt sich tatsächlich nutzen, um Verschlüsselung zu knacken, hat ein Forscherteam herausgefunden. Eine Erweiterung, die es allerdings nicht zum Standard gebracht hat, erleichtert das sogar.

"Godfather of House Music": Star-DJ Frankie Knuckles gestorben
Im Chicagoer Warehouse-Club dehnte er Soul-Platten im Mix so aus, dass man dazu perfekt tanzen konnte - und erfand so ein Musikgenre: House Music. Nun ist Frankie Knuckles, der "Godfather of Chicago House", gestorben. Er wurde 59 Jahre alt.
2004 ehrte ihn seine Heimatstadt: Ein Stück der Jefferson Street, zwischen Jackson Boulevard und Madison Street, wurde umbenannt in "Frankie Knuckles Way". Es ist das Stück, an dem das Warehouse stand, jener Club, in dem Frankie Knuckles 1977 aufzulegen begann und in dem er seinen Ruf als "Godfather of House Music" begründete - ein Ehrentitel, der auch auf dem Straßenschild vermerkt ist.

How optical illusions trick your brain, according to science
Stotter's work takes advantage of the fact that our eyes skim and our brains tend to jump to conclusions. The act of seeing something begins with light rays bouncing off an object. These rays enter the eyes through the cornea, which is the clear, outer portion of the eye. The cornea then bends or refracts the light rays as they go through the black part of your eye, the pupil. The iris — the colored portion of your eye — contracts or expands to change the amount of light that goes through.
