Rare 1970s BP board game promises oil 'thrills' comes back to haunt them

They were trouble-free times when oil barons were dining out with rich sheikhs and counting their profits.

But little did they know their drilling exploits would come back to haunt them.

Ban On Photographing Near Gulf Oil Booms

The day before yesterday CNN's Anderson Cooper reported that, from now on, there is a new rule in effect, which de facto bars photographers from coming within 65 feet of any deployed boom or response vessel around Deepwater Horizon (official announcement). The rule, announced by the US Coast Guard, forbids 'photographers and reporters and anyone else from coming within 65 feet of any response vessel or booms out on the water or on beaches. In order to get closer, you have to get direct permission from the Coast Guard captain of the Port of New Orleans,' while 'violators could face a fine of $40,000 and Class D felony charges. What's even more extraordinary is that the Coast Guard tried to make the exclusion zone 300 feet, before scaling it back to 65 feet.

'The internet's completely over', declares petulant Prince

He further popped: "The internets like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that cant be good for you."

Mercifully, Prince's new-found Luddite tendencies - which have led him to close his official website - don't extend to large mixing desks, electric guitars or CD players, because that would certainly put the kibosh on Saturday's Daily Mirror freebie.

A BBC film crew has filmed the intimate life of one of the world's largest and most powerful eagles, the harpy eagle of Central and South America.

In doing so, the crew survived a flyby attack by a primate-hunting harpy.

Despite their huge size, the birds are notoriously secretive, and are rarely seen in the jungle tree tops.

Kissing in cars, feeding stray cats and building sandcastles all banned in Italy

More than 150 "public security" laws have been introduced since Silvio Berlusconi, the prime minister, granted extra powers to local councils to help them crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour.

In the latest episode in the fight to maintain "public decorum", Vigevano, a town near Milan, this week slapped fines of €160 (£130) each on a young couple who dared to sit on the steps of a local monument.

Scroogle's future in doubt

The long-term future of proxy server Scroogle is seriously in doubt, according to operator Daniel Brandt. Scroogle has scraped Google pages since 2002 by piping results through an anonymizing server. By using the service surfers could remain anonymous, but more importantly use Google without the compulsory 40-year cookie.
