Martin Scorsese’s Film School: The 85 Films You Need To See To Know Anything About Film
Interviewing Martin Scorsese is like taking a master class in film. Fast Company’s four-hour interview with the director for the December-January cover story was ostensibly about his career, and how he had been able to stay so creative through years of battling studios. But the Hugo director punctuated everything he said with references to movies: 85 of them, in fact, all listed below.
Some of the movies he discussed (note: the descriptions for these are below in quotes, denoting his own words). Others he just mentioned (noted below with short plot descriptions and no quotes.) But the cumulative total reflects a life lived entirely within the confines of movie making, from his days as a young asthmatic child watching a tiny screen in Queens, New York to today, when Scorsese is as productive as he’s ever been in his career--and more revered than ever by the industry that once regarded him as a troublesome outsider. Hugo leads the Academy Award nominations with 11 nods, including Best Picture and Best Director. Several Oscar pundits believe he’ll nab his second Directing win. If so, he owes a lot to movies like the ones below.

Israel has destroyed Iran nuclear infrastructure
Israel has destroyed all Iranian nuclear infrastructure on the ground, a November email from the US intelligence firm Stratfor released by Wikileaks on Monday claims, citing a "confirmed Israeli intelligence agent."
The email is one of five million the whistleblowing website plans to publish from the US-based global security analysis company that has been likened to a shadow CIA. The emails appear to contain a large amount of speculation and hearsay.

WikiLeaks Tightens Ties To Anonymous In Leak Of Stratfor Emails
The leaderless collective Anonymous once acted as WikiLeaks’ vigilante avenger, attacking the secret-spilling group’s enemies while WikiLeaks kept a careful remove from their offensives. But with the leak of a vast trove of emails from the private intelligence firm Stratfor, Anonymous now says it’s upgraded its relationship with WikiLeaks from friendly acquaintance to partner.
On Sunday night, WikiLeaks announced the initial release of what it’s calling the Global Intelligence Files, a collection of 5.5 million emails from the private intelligence firm Stratfor. The group claims those emails, to be released over the coming weeks, show Stratfor’s involvement in operations like monitoring activists seeking redress for the Bhopal chemical disaster on behalf of Dow Chemical, payments to the former head of the controversial Pakistani secret service, and even the use of the company’s information for insider trading.

New Version of Flashback Trojan Targets Mac Users
Two weeks ago, Mac security researchers at Intego discovered a variant of the Flashback Trojan using clever methods to infect systems. On Friday, Intego reported that a new variant of Flashback is targeting passwords and as a byproduct of infection, Flashback is crashing several notable applications.
Flashback was first discovered by Intego in September of 2011. It targets Java vulnerabilities on OS X, two of them to be exact, in order to infect the system. Should Flashback find that Java is fully updated, it will attempt to social engineer the malware’s installation, by presenting an applet with a self-signed certificate. The certificate claims to be signed by Apple, but is clearly marked as invalid. However, users are known to skip such warnings, thus allowing the malware to be installed.

Vorläufiger Abschied von den "Staatskünstlern", man darf sagen: Diese Kunst wird fehlen. Nicht nur, weil die Serie mit den triefenden Anrufen des verhinderten Büroleiters Niko Pelinka (Nicolas Ofczarek) für eine der fettigsten Parodien aller Zeiten sorgte. Nicht nur, weil Fundstücke wie der Wikipedia-Eintrag von Reinhart Gaugg ("dass der Absatz , Politische Karriere' nur halb so lang ist wie ,Alkohol am Steuer'") sicher verwertet werden.

Robo-Flieger für Jedermann
Sie werden in Kriegen eingesetzt - doch Drohnen sind mittlerweile auch ein Allerweltsspielzeug. Computertechnik macht die fliegenden Späher leicht bedienbar, aber nicht immer bezahlbar. Welche Flugautomaten sind erschwinglich? Und wie lässt man sie aufsteigen?
Drohnen patrouillieren nicht mehr nur über Krisengebieten, man wird sie künftig auch immer häufiger in und über deutschen Städten sehen. Der Bundestag hat einen Entwurf zur Änderung des deutschen Luftverkehrsgesetzes durchgewunken, der den Robo-Fliegern dieselben Rechte zugesteht wie bemannten Flugzeugen. Hobby-Drohnen allerdings betrifft die Änderung in der Regel nicht. Zumindest dann nicht, wenn sie "ausschließlich zum Zweck des Sports oder der Freizeitgestaltung betrieben werden", wie es die Bundesregierung in einer Antwort auf eine kleine Anfrage der Linken formuliert hat.
