100,000 times as bright as our own Sun
Hidden behind a curtain of dusty darkness lurks one of the most violent pockets of star birth in our galaxy. Called DR21, this stellar nursery is so draped in cosmic dust that it appears invisible to the human eye.
By seeing in the infrared, NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has pulled this veil aside, revealing a fireworks-like display of massive stars. The biggest of these stars is estimated to be 100,000 times as bright as our own Sun.

Robots May Fight for the Army
Lightweight, super-strong robots will lead human soldiers into battle within 10 years -- at least according to iRobot.
The robots, called small unmanned ground vehicles, or SUGVs, will detect the presence of chemical and biological weapons, identify targets for artillery and infantrymen, and ferret out snipers hiding inside urban buildings. Today, humans mainly perform these tasks, often becoming the first casualties of battle while looking for snipers or explosives.

Suspected border tunnel is detected in Calexico
U.S. federal authorities have hired a contractor to excavate an area in Calexico that they suspect could be the site of another cross-border tunnel.
It's in the same area where two incomplete cross-border tunnels were found last year, one by a U.S. Border Patrol agent and the other by city work crews.
U.S. authorities believe the tunnels were being built to transport drugs illegally into the United States. Calexico is about 100 miles east of San Diego, across the border from the Baja California capital of Mexicali.
