Rss Readers
Here is a directory of RSS readers, which are used to scan or read many sites at once. They are part of RssSyndication; you use them to read RssFeeds, either just the headlines, or the headlines and a short description (or even the whole text) of each item. You can click on any item to see it in it's regular web page context. Some readers use a web interface, some are a desktop program, separate from your web browser.

FUNK45.com contains over 2000 audio clips of rare funk and soul 45 rpm singles recorded in the late 60s and early 70s with regular contributions from the world's top funk DJs and collectors. The music is often grittier than well known artists such as James Brown and has been ignored by the music industry for over 30 years.

For the President Only
Declassified and Approved for Release, 10 April 2004
Here is a PDF of the actual document, marked "For the President Only" and dated "6 August 2001." Read it for yourself. Read it again. I don't see how any warning about the impending attack could have been clearer or more explicit than what I read here.

See Me, Blog Me
Turned on by online opinion sites? Then get ready for Web video journals By JEFFREY RESSNER
Monday, Apr. 19, 2004 Boston-based music-video producer Steve Garfield, 46, is no ordinary blogger. Instead of simply posting his thoughts online in a chatty weblog like millions of others around the world, he links a Canon GL2 digital video camera to his laptop and uploads short clips of protest rallies, traffic short-cuts and even news events onto his personal Internet site.

Cxbx, The Xbox Emulator -> News
The latest CVS source code is available at cxbx.sourceforge.net. This is a developmental build and a stable binary has not yet been released. I have put up some google ad links above to generate some support. The last sizeable donation has gone towards a development box for Sopskrutt, and in the future it will help reimburse Xbox-Scene.com who is kind enough to host us.

American Concentration Camps
A typical American reaction to footage of the Third Reich's concentration camps is to shudder and say "But that could never happen here." At which point, an interior monologue voice is compelled to come back in an ominous tone with, "Or could it?"
The answer to that question, of course, is "yes, of course it could," followed by "in fact, it already has," in addition to "and it still is," with the added stipulation that "it's possibly much worse than you imagined."

Gopher: Underground Technology
Back in 1992, when "yahoo" was something cowboys yelled and "ebay" was just pig Latin, the University of Minnesota developed a new way of looking at data on the Internet. Their protocol, called "gopher" after the UMN mascot, allowed archivists to present the mishmash of information in a standard format, and enabled readers to navigate documents on a world of servers using a simple visual interface.
For a while, it seemed as if gopher might open the Internet up to the nontechnical masses and usher in a new era of online communication. It very well might have, if the Web hadn't come along and done it instead.

Google-Bombing
