Auch nach zehn Jahren hat eine Kalifornische Seelöwin das "Lesen" nicht verlernt: Robbenweibchen Rio beherrschte trotz zehnjähriger Lesepause immer noch ein Kunststück, bei dem sie sich Buchstaben und Zahlen merken, sie unterscheiden und später wiedererkennen musste.

Einen Tag nach der Verleihung des Preises für besondere Missachtung des Datenschutzes in Deutschland entschied auch die österreichische Jury über ihre Preisträger. Entgegen aller Erwartungen und trotz Nominierung in zwei Kategorien schaffte es Microsoft nicht, die Trophäe in Empfang nehmen zu können. Stattdessen kümmerten sich die Juroren vor allem um die Alltagsprobleme der vom dreisten Umgang mit persönlichen Daten geplagten Österreicher, wie Erich Moechel vom Mitveranstalter Quintessenz betont.

Was treiben Angestellte während der Arbeitszeit? Für so manchen Chef, der sich schon immer die totale Überwachung seiner Arbeitnehmer wünschte, hat sich mit der Einführung spezieller Schnüffelprogramme ein Traum erfüllt. Mit der Software Spector beispielsweise lässt sich -- unbemerkt vom Anwender -- nicht nur jede besuchte Webseite und jede E-Mail, sondern auch jede geöffnete Anwendung und jeder Tastenanschlag registrieren. Einträge in Chats sind ebenso einzusehen wie Passwörter, auf Wunsch alarmiert Spector bei bestimmten Schlüsselwörtern den Überwacher. Zudem "fotografiert" das Programm den Bildschirm des jeweiligen Arbeitnehmers.

CD-Kopierschutz: Die Musikindustrie schadet sich selbst
CD-Käufer sind verunsichert: Können sie sich noch darauf verlassen, dass die Audio-CDs, die sie im Laden erstehen, auch wirklich überall und jederzeit abgespielt werden können? Diverse Schwierigkeiten mit Kopierschutzmechanismen, die die Musikindustrie eingeführt hat, verärgern zunehmend die Konsumenten.

Geiselnahmen sind ein gemeines Verbrechen. Der Einsatz von Giftgas ist ein geächtetes Verbrechen. Wladimir Putin, der den Gashahn aufgedreht hat, macht die Welt sehr viel unsicherer (auch Kavkaz.org wurde vom Netz genommen).
