"70,000 cannabis plants for Kassel"

is a project developed by the Austrian artist Robert Jelinek which comments on current drug policy, particularly where it concerns cannabis and its possible legalisation. Documenta XI serves the project as a platform for public discussion. 70,000 cannabis seeds (agricultural hemp) will be sown either in greater Kassel or Vienna throughout the hundred-day documenta XI. Targeted areas include city parks, public flower beds, traffic islands, and other green areas.

Most Censored News Stories of 2001-2002

The media research group Project Censored at Sonoma State University announced today its list of the most under-covered "censored" news stories of 2001-2002. The censored news stories are published in the annual book Censored 2003 from Seven Stories Press. The Sonoma State University research group is composed of nearly 200 faculty, students, and community experts who reviewed over 900 nominations for the 2003 awards. The top 25 stories were ranked by the Project's national judges including: Michael Parenti, Robert McChesney, Robin Andersen, Norman Solomon, Carl Jensen, Lenore Foerstel and some 20 other national journalists, scholars, and writers.

Eine nicht gerade neue Technologie und selten genutzt: QuicktimePanoramaMovies. Falls euch das Programm mit einem "Upgrade Now" begrüßt: Einfach auf "später"/"later" drücken. (Ich habe auch einige andere PlugIns ausprobiert, aber die sind von der DarstellungsQualität (und vor allem der Absturzsicherheit bei größeren Panoramen) leider nicht so gut wie Quicktime) Panoramen im Netz zeigen gern Traumstrände, Stadtskylines und die anderen Postkartenmotive. Schön und gut. Dies hier sind Abbilder der sensationell unsensationellen Normalität. Je älter die Aufnahme ist, desto interessanter wird's. Ihr seid hier also in einem virtuellen Weinkeller. Schaut einfach in 10 oder 20 Jahren wieder vorbei!
