Plunging a knife in again and again, diver Craig Clasen grapples with a 12ft tiger shark to protect a friend.
For two hours he wrestled with the giant, spearing it seven times, even drowning the beast before eventually finishing it off with a knife.
Mr Clasen was hunting yellow fin tuna with fellow fisherman Cameron Kirkconnell, photographer D.J Struntz and film maker Ryan Mcnis in the Gulf of Mexico when the encounter took place.

Some say that if farmers don’t want problems from Monsanto, they simply shouldn’t buy Monsanto’s GMO seeds. But it isn’t quite that simple. Monsanto contaminates the fields, trespasses onto the land taking samples, and then sues, saying they own the crop.

My wife's family lived in Germany until 1936, when they were lucky enough to leave. My wife's grandfather collected thousands of bills produced by the different towns and companies to make front to deflation first and inflation later and provide certain stability to workers and residents. Each town hired artists and craftsmen to design this money, which reflects the aesthetic and concerns of the time and place.

An zahlreichen Orten in Deutschland sind radioaktiv belastete Metallteile mit dem Isotop Kobalt 60 gefunden worden. Einige fielen Zöllnern bei Stichproben auf, anderen lösten an Schrottplätzen Alarm aus, an denen Messgeräte installiert sind.

Wahre Finanzkrise: Die Postbank hat versehentlich einen mit 170.000 Euro gefüllten Tresor verschrotten lassen. Beim Umzug einer Filiale hatte ein Mitarbeiter vergessen, den Geldschrank zu leeren.

CIA chief in Algeria accused of drugging and raping Muslim women
Law enforcement sources told ABC News that the 41-year-old officer, named as Muslim convert Andrew Warren, had been sent home in October. He could face charges as early as next month.
Investigators from the Justice Department allegedly found more than a dozen secretly recorded videotapes of the Mr Warren performing sex acts with other women. An official said one woman appeared to be in a "semi-conscious state".

Finnish words for snow
Everybody has heard that the Eskimos have over forty different words for snow; quite a few people also know that this is an urban legend. What you probably did not know, however, is that Finnish does have over 40 words for snow -- at least if we stretch the definition a bit to include all forms of frozen precipitation.
