"I Share Therefore I Am" - File Sharing in Sweden Becomes an Official Religion
Internet freedom has won the day in Sweden as the religion The Missionary Church of Kopimism has been officially recognized by the government, instigating a new discussion on legality, spirituality and the shaky fate of our greatest collective achievement to date: the Net.
"The copying and sharing of information shouldn't be illegal, but it should be encouraged," said 20-year old philosophy student and Kopimism founder Isak Gerson. Gerson may have tapped into not only the zeitgeist but also his peer group as well. Other Digital Natives can no doubt relate to this notion extremely well, as a huge portion of their lives have been nurtured and matured in the nest of information technology.

Top 10 Lesser-Known Friday 13th Events
Happy Friday the 13th, the first one of 2012. The year 2012 is one of the rare years in which there are three Friday the 13ths – January, April, and July. That combination of a year where Friday the 13th happens three times in January, April, and July only happens on leap years, and has only happened seven times since 1860, and not since 1984. The other three-month combination in which Friday the 13th can happen in three different months is February, March, and November of a given year (non-leap years). Friday the 13th cannot happen more than three times in a Gregorian calendar year. In a 400 year Gregorian calendar cycle, the odds of the 13th falling on a Friday is slightly more likely than any other day of the week (it will happen 688 times in those 400 years, slightly more frequent than Sundays or Wednesdays).
Friday the 13th of any month, of course, is considered to be unlucky but it is just another ordinary day. Some years, not much happens on a month that has a Friday the 13th. Other years, history is made, for better or worse.

On August 19, 2009, Tommy Davis, the chief spokesperson for the Church of Scientology International, received a letter from the film director and screenwriter Paul Haggis. “For ten months now I have been writing to ask you to make a public statement denouncing the actions of the Church of Scientology of San Diego,” Haggis wrote. Before the 2008 elections, a staff member at Scientology’s San Diego church had signed its name to an online petition supporting Proposition 8, which asserted that the State of California should sanction marriage only “between a man and a woman.” The proposition passed. As Haggis saw it, the San Diego church’s “public sponsorship of Proposition 8, which succeeded in taking away the civil rights of gay and lesbian citizens of California—rights that were granted them by the Supreme Court of our state—is a stain on the integrity of our organization and a stain on us personally.

Wer sonst, wenn nicht Gott?
Und wenn Andreas Laun nun recht hat? Es liegt uns kein Zeugnis vor, dass Schrulligkeit vor Erkenntnis des göttlichen Willens schützt. Von der sinnlichen Gewissheit, über die Wege des Herrn, so verschlungen sie immer sein mögen, stets bestens vorausinformiert zu sein, hat sein Verein jahrhundertelang nicht schlecht gelebt, und wer mehr darüber wissen will, kann sich jeden Sonntag in der Krone bunt informieren - erspart den Kirchgang, bei dem man ohnehin nur mit den Meinungen gestresster Untergebener abgespeist wird. Wenn Laun für seine Exegese, Gott habe die einundzwanzig bei der Loveparade in Duisburg zu Tode gequetschten Jugendlichen aus Liebe gestraft, nun auf dem Grill gottloser Medien geröstet wird, kann ihn diese Erhöhung zum Märtyrer in seinen Auffassungen nur bestärken.

Laun rudert zurück: Doch keine Strafe Gottes
Salzburgs Weihbischof Andreas Laun rudert zurück. Noch am Freitag hat er in seinem Blog auf der konservativen Website kath.net die Ereignisse bei der Loveparade im deutschen Duisburg in die Nähe einer "Strafe Gottes" gerückt - bei dem Techno-Fest waren am 24. Juli 21 Besucher ums Leben gekommen, mehr als 500 wurden verletzt. Jetzt schreibt Laun unter dem Titel "Klarstellung der Klarstellung" , er sei falsch interpretiert worden.

Salzburg/Wien - Der Salzburger Weihbischof Andreas Laun hat in seiner Kolumne "Klartext" auf dem Online-Portal kath.net zum Unglück von Duisburg mit 21 Toten Stellung genommen. In der Überschrift zum Kommentar heißt es: "Love-Parade ist kein 'harmloses Feiern' - Wenn Gott 'straft', tut er dies mit der Absicht, den Menschen zurückzuholen, Gott straft aus Liebe!"

Mysterious new crop circles at UFO capital of Britain in Wiltshire
The circular 90m (300ft) design, believed to represent the passage of the Moon and Sun, contains 193 rings, including six key circles and a seventh in the centre.
Crop circle expert Karen Alexander said: ‘This is the most complex circle so far this year.’ The formation, near the village of Mere, is the first in the area since 1997.
