Männer, die alles genau wissen wollen - 25 Jahre „c't“

HotPlug: Transport a live computer without shutting it down.
What is HotPlug? With HotPlug, you can move a computer without powering it down!
We created this product for our Government/Forensic customers - but it has IT uses as well. Need to move a server without powering it down? HotPlug can do it.
Bottom line: WiebeTech's HotPlug allows hot seizure and removal of computers from the field to anywhere else on the planet. HotPlug keeps power flowing to the computer while transferring the computer's power input from one A/C source (such as a wall outlet or power strip) to another (a portable UPS) and back again.

Nutter has 36 WoW accounts, play all simultanously, raids by himself
This is pretty much wrong. Dual-Boxing’s forums have yielded information about a man who has 36 World of Warcraft accounts and raids by himself. There’s an explanation there of how he manages to control that many characters simultaneously. We’re a bit baffled by this, to be honest.

Adobe cache snafu delivers free movie downloads
A security hole in Adobe Systems Inc software, used to distribute movies and TV shows over the Internet, is giving users free access to record and copy from Amazon.com Inc's video streaming service.
The problem exposes online video content to the rampant piracy that plagued the music industry during the Napster era and is undermining efforts by retailers, movie studios and television networks to cash in on a huge Web audience.

Business card web server
Hacakday offers instructions on how to create the smallest web server you ever did see: it occupies the dimensions (except depth, of course!) of a business card! I can't see myself handing these out at meetings any time soon, however. Not, at least, without creating a bomb scare.

Happy Birthday to GNU
British humorist Stephen Fry has produced a video to mark the 25th Anniversary of RMS's launch of the GNU operating system. Watch and celebrate here.
This is an extraordinary milestone to mark. I'll keep a list of celebratory videos here (email me with any links). Congratulations to Richard on the success of this movement launched as an idea 25 years ago (September 27 is the date), and more importantly, thank you to Richard for this movement launched as an idea 25 years ago.

The My Document Laptop Bag
Remember when the Macbook Air came out with that commercial of the computer fitting in an envelope and that singer that I think I want to have sex with singing that song that's really catchy? And then how people actually started making laptop envelopes like the one in the ad so they can make a quick buck to support their drug habits? Me neither, but apparently it happened. And now there's another novelty laptop carrier on the market -- the $30 My Document!

A real Space Oddity arrives at PC Pro
You may remember that, some time ago, I blogged about an interesting little computer curio called the Space Cube. Quite simply, it’s one of the smallest PCs in the world, with each side measuring around 2 inches square. I wrote that it looked cool, ran on a 300MHz processor and that it probably wouldn’t be sold outside of Japan, if at all.

Seinfeld and Celebrity Computer Endorsements
Microsoft Corp., weary of being cast as a stodgy oldster by Apple Inc.'s advertising, is turning for help to Jerry Seinfeld.
The software giant's new $300 million advertising campaign, devised by a newly hired ad agency, has been closely guarded. But Mr. Seinfeld will be one of the key celebrity pitchmen, say people close to the situation. He will appear with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates in ads and receive about $10 million for the work, they say.
