How was Mozilla born - The story of the first mascot on the Internet

Andrew Wong, art director with Poppe Tyson Advertising in Mountain View, California, asked me to help create Netscape's first Web Page in September of 1994, then known as Mosaic Communications Corporation. It was a few weeks prior to the Netscape project that Curtis Fukuda, a photographer in Mountain View had introduced me to Andrew. A meeting was arranged where Andrew reviewed my portfolio and pulled samples. Dave Carlick, President of Poppe Tyson, Mountain View, CA, saw the samples when they were assembling the team to work on the Netscape website, and especially liked an illustration I did called "The Junk Food Junkie" (he actually pictured using the creature on the Netscape web site; an early sketch Andrew did of the Mosaic home page has "The Junk Food Junkie" on a mosaic tile riding a unicycle)

Online video sharing quality comparison

Other sites such as Eyespot and Daily Motion confirms that at the moment there seems no stopping the rise of online video sharing sites, there is a wealth to choose from. Which one to choose is probably based on what you need it for. YouTube is the most popular (and will probably stay so with the merge with Google Video), but also one with the most “competition”. Revver and Metacafe allow you to share revenue if that is what you want, MyHeavy and Blip are more integrated social networking sites, and Soapbox has the highest video quality (in my opinion), but is only a small marketplace at the moment. Please, let me know your thoughts.

Scam of Indian student developing technology to store 450 GB on paper

Currently, of the several options available for data storage, DVDs are the best mode. But a high quality DVD, which is very expensive can store only about 4.7 gigabyte (GB) of data. In contrast, the Rainbow Versatile Disc (RVD) can store 90 to 450 GB. And Sainul has simultaneously developed a scanning drive based on his Rainbow software which will come in smaller sizes to be initially carried with the laptops and later to fit into their bodies.

Chilean Indians take on Microsoft

MAPUCHE Indians in Chile are trying to take the global software giant Microsoft to court in a legal battle which raises the question of whether anyone can ever "own" the language they speak.

The row was sparked by Microsoft's decision last month to launch its Windows software package in Mapuzugun, a Mapuche tongue spoken by around 400,000 indigenous Chileans.
