Mourners want talking tombstones banned
ANGRY mourners have demanded the scrapping of high-tech talking tombstones where the dead can send messages from beyond the grave.
The headstones — fitted with screens and speakers — play recordings of the owners' lives when their loved ones come to pay their respects.
But spooked visitors have asked graveyard officials at Linz, Austria, to ban the gadgets.

Frank L. hatte im Berliner Wachsfiguren-Kabinett die Adolf- Hitler-Figur geköpft. Vor Gericht legte der Attentäter ein umfassendes Geständnis ab: Dass die Puppe des Diktators in der Nachbarschaft des Holocaust-Mahnmals stand, habe er nicht ertragen können.

BMI lässt Satire-Webseite sperren?
Das Bundesinnenministerium hat eine Satire-Seite zu Netzsperren sperren lassen. Der Betreiber der Webseite Pantoffelpunk-Blog berichtet, dass seine Satire-Seite aus dem Netz genommen wurde. Noch ist relativ unklar, was genau die Argumentation des Bundesinnenministeriums oder des Hosters sein könnte, denn es ist unklar, wer dahinter steckt. Vermutet wird die Verwendung des BMI-Logos/CI. Wie das ganze rechtlich einzuordnen ist, schreibt Telemedicus: BMI lässt Satire-Webseite sperren?

In einem ersten Versuch, die Dimensionen des “Elektronischen Polizeistaats” auszumachen und 52 Länder entsprechend in einem Ranking zu bewerten, verwundert nicht, dass an erster Stelle China und Nordkorea, gefolgt von Weißrussland und Russland stehen. Dann aber wird bereits Großbritannien aufgelistet, gefolgt von den USA, Singapur, Israel, Frankreich und, an zehnter Stelle, Deutschland.

Abgeordnete beschließen Internet-Sperren für Raubkopierer
Drei Mahnungen, dann ist die Verbindung weg: Frankreichs Parlament hat für ein Gesetz gestimmt, nach dem das illegale Herunterladen von Musik und Filmen mit Internet-Entzug bestraft werden soll. Das Europaparlament kritisierte das Vorhaben.
Die französische Nationalversammlung hat ein umstrittenes Gesetz gegen Raubkopierer verabschiedet. Die Abgeordneten stimmten am Dienstag mit 296 zu 233 Stimmen für ein Gesetz, mit dem die Regierung harte Strafen für Internet-Piraten einführen will. Wer mehrmals beim unerlaubten Herunterladen von Musik oder Filmen erwischt wird, dem soll der Internet-Zugang zeitweise gekappt werden.

French net piracy bill signed off
A controversial French bill which will disconnect people caught downloading content illegally three times has been given final approval.
The legislation, backed by President Nicolas Sarkozy, was surprisingly voted down by the Assembly last month.

What Do You Know, the Ex-Drug Czar Is Still Full of Sh*t!
In a revelation that I'm sure will come as a surprise to absolutely no one, it turns out that ex-Drug Czar John Walters is still full of sh*t.
Responding on CNN last night to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's call to debate the merits of taxing and regulating the adult use of marijuana (e-mail the Governor here), Walters demonstrated that he remains an unrepentant liar -- even though he's no longer paid by the federal government to be one.

Thousands of Vulnerabilities Detected In FAA's Air Traffic Control Apps
A government audit (PDF) has pinpointed more than 3,800 vulnerabilities -- 763 of which are high-risk -- in the Federal Aviation Administration's Web-based air traffic control system applications, including some that could potentially put air travel at risk.
The U.S. Department of Transportation report, with the help of auditors from KPMG, determined that the ATC's Web-based applications aren't secured from attacks or unauthorized access, and that the FAA hasn't set up the necessary intrusion-detection functions to catch security incidents at ATC locations.

Baby monitors killing urban Wi-Fi
Baby monitors and wireless TV transmitters are responsible for slowing down Wi-Fi connections in built-up areas, according to an Ofcom-commissioned report.
The regulator commissioned the report to evaluate the effectiveness of the unlicensed 2.4GHz band that Wi-Fi operates over.
