Snake with foot found in China
Dean Qiongxiu, 66, said she discovered the reptile clinging to the wall of her bedroom with its talons in the middle of the night.
"I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound. I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw," said Mrs Duan of Suining, southwest China.

Scientist: Perfume can cure AIDS
Scientist Beime Larzjaibaeva of Tolebinsk told the country’s TTK news agency he could cure acquired immune deficiency syndrome by injecting perfume into infected patients, Ananova reports. It was not clear what ingredient in perfume affected the disease.

Zwei Jugendliche schlagen einen 50-jährigen Geschäftsmann tot - prompt fordert die Politik mehr Videokameras zur Überwachung. Dabei wissen Fachleute seit Jahren, dass Big Brother in S- und U-Bahnen Gewalttaten nicht verhindern kann.
Immer wieder müssen die beiden jungen Männer geprügelt und getreten haben: Insgesamt 22 Verletzungen erlitt Dominik B., das Opfer der Münchner S-Bahn-Schläger, binnen weniger Minuten. Der 50-jährige Geschäftsmann starb wenig später. Er war am Samstagnachmittag dazwischengegangen, als Jugendliche einige Kinder angegriffen hatten und von ihnen Geld erpressen wollten.

Schuhwerfer von Bagdad bleibt vorerst in Haft
Die Familie des Mannes, der bei einer Pressekonferenz in Bagdad einen Schuh auf den früheren US-Präsidenten George W. Bush geworfen hatte, hatte am Montag fünf Stunden vor dem Militärstützpunkt in der irakischen Hauptstadt gewartet, wo Al Seidi entlassen werden sollte. Die Familie kündigte an, sie werde vor dem Stützpunkt in einen Sitzstreik treten. Der Journalist al-Saidi war wegen tätlichen Angriffs auf Bush in Bagdad zu drei Jahren Haft verurteilt worden. Weil gegen ihn keine Vorstrafen vorlagen, wurde das Strafmaß dann reduziert.

Elderly man strapped to oxygen tank robs bank
Authorities say a well-dressed elderly man carrying an oxygen tank has robbed a bank in the California beach town of La Jolla.
San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick says the suspect presented a demand note to a teller at the San Diego National Bank Saturday. He fled with an unknown amount of cash. Battrick says it's unclear whether the suspect had a weapon.

ASUS Eee Keyboard will officially launch in North America and Europe in October. And while CEO Jerry Shen is keeping quiet on pricing, the original $400 to $500 estimates should hold-up. 'Emperor of Hemp' Jack Herer Fighting For His Life After Heart Attack At Hempstalk
Noted activist and author Jack Herer, "The Emperor of Hemp," is fighting for his life after giving an impassioned speech at the Portland (OR) HempStalk festival Saturday, Sept 12. Herer left the stage and collapsed with an apparently serious heart attack, according to fellow activist Chris Conrad, who was on the scene.

How marijuana became legal
When Irvin Rosenfeld, 56, picks me up at the Fort Lauderdale airport, his SUV reeks of marijuana. The vice president for sales at a local brokerage firm, Rosenfeld has been smoking 10 to 12 marijuana cigarettes a day for 38 years, he says.
That's probably unusual in itself, but what makes Rosenfeld exceptional is that for the past 27 years, he has been copping his weed directly from the United States government.
