Remember the 1999 Sci-Fi classic movie, The Matrix, where Earth had been taken over by machines that created a simulated reality in order to control the human population? The human race deliberately created a sentient network of computers for the good of mankind. As energy became scarce, however, the computer network created a simulated reality to mentally enslave the human population; using human body heat and electrical activity as an energy source.

Thüringer SEK kurz vor Zugriff "zurückgepfiffen"
Das Thüringer Landeskriminalamt hatte offenbar kurz nach dem Untertauchen der Jenaer Terror-Zelle im Jahr 1998 die konkrete Möglichkeit für einen Zugriff auf die Gruppe. Nach Informationen des MDR THÜRINGEN lag für einen Zugriff in Chemnitz ein Einsatzplan des Thüringer Spezialeinsatzkommandos (SEK) der Polizei vor. Nach MDR-Recherchen hatten Zielfahnder des Landeskriminalamtes die drei in Chemnitz aufgespürt. Das SEK wurde daraufhin in Alarmbereitschaft versetzt. Kurz bevor die SEK-Beamten in Richtung Sachsen aufbrechen wollten, wurde der Einsatz abgebrochen. Auch die Zielfahnder sollen auf Weisung des LKA wieder zurückgeholt worden sein.

Google Launches Google Music
More than six months after the launch of Music Beta by Google, the internet giant's Google Music has officially launched, featuring a new mp3 store linked to their cloud-based storage service. The company made the announcement at an event in L.A. yesterday that featured a performance by Drake.
The online shop, which is part of Android Market, functions like the iTunes store or Amazon. It allows users to share one free play of purchased songs with their friends on Google+, Google's social networking service. As The New York Times reports, Warner Music Group is the only major label that has not reached an agreement with Google Music to sell their catalog yet. As Billboard points out, Google Music also includes a service that allows independent artists to sell their music directly to customers.

Erst Rechtsextreme, dann Scientologen: Weil in ihren Reihen auch Mitglieder der Scientology-Sekte sein sollen, stehen die Piraten erneut in der Kritik. Während die Bundespartei Religion als Privatsache deklariert, überlegt man im betroffenen Landesverband, wie man die unliebsamen Anhänger wieder loswerden kann.

Staatstrojaner - Eine neue Dimension der Privatheit
Computer sind der Inbegriff der Privatsphäre. Um sie zu schützen, reicht es nicht mehr, auf Fachleute zu vertrauen. Wir brauchen eine neue Bürgerbewegung.
Es ist schon abenteuerlich, wie die Politik mit einem der wichtigsten Urteile des Bundesverfassungsgerichts, dem Urteil zur Online-Durchsuchung vom 27. Februar 2008, umgeht. Das Gericht entwickelte darin aus dem allgemeinen Persönlichkeitsrecht ein neues Grundrecht: auf Gewährleistung der Vertraulichkeit und Integrität informationstechnischer Systeme, kurz IT-Grundrecht. In vierzehn Entscheidungen hat das Gericht in den letzten Jahren versucht, das Gleichgewicht zwischen dem Schutz der inneren Sicherheit und dem Respekt vor den Persönlichkeitsrechten in ein neues Gleichgewicht zu bringen, nachdem die Politik der Sicherheit immer stärker den Vorrang gegeben hatte. Umgesetzt hat die Politik viele Vorgaben des Gerichts oft nur widerwillig oder gar nicht.

Der Film zeigt, welche Hinweise es auf die rechtsextreme Szene gegeben hätte, lässt Ermittler, Angehörige und Augenzeugen der Taten zu Wort kommen und fragt: War die Wahrheit nicht zu erkennen oder wollte man sie nicht sehen?
Jahrelang konnte eine Terrorzelle aus Zwickau unentdeckt kaltblütig einen Mord nach dem anderen verüben. Mit immensem Aufwand versuchten Ermittler die einzelnen Straftaten aufzudecken, von der "Dönermordserie" über den Mord an einer Heilbronner Polizistin bis hin zum Anschlag in einer Kölner Straße, die überwiegend von Türken bewohnt wurde. Jede noch so abwegige Theorie wurde ins Auge gefasst, nach einem Phantom gejagt, nach Zusammenhängen im organisierten Verbrechen gesucht. Doch offenbar kam keiner auf die Idee, Täter im rechtsextremen Milieu zu suchen. Gab es wirklich keine Hinweise? Oder wurden sie übersehen, beiseite gewischt? Welche Rolle spielte der Verfassungsschutz? Der Film liefert exklusive Aussagen, geht Spuren nach, die bislang in der Öffentlichkeit noch nicht bekannt waren.

The return of the neo-Nazis
Many Germans are in a state of shock after a neo-Nazi cell, which was allegedly responsible for a string of murders, was uncovered.
The group, which calls itself the National Socialist Underground, has been accused of murdering eight people of Turkish origin and one of Greek origin between 2000 and 2006 and the fatal shooting of a policewoman in 2007.
German police are uncovering chilling details about the group and the German authorities are being asked hard questions about how the group remained active for over a decade.

Pestizid-Einsatz belastet auch Bioproduktion
Der Einsatz von Pestiziden in der herkömmlichen Landwirtschaft erschwert nach Angaben der Biobranche eine pestizidfreie Bioproduktion. Wie der Bundesverband Naturkost Naturwaren (BNN) in Berlin erklärte, könne eine vollständige Rückstandsfreiheit nicht garantiert werden, da Bioprodukte in einer Umwelt mit vielen Belastungen produziert werden. "Eine hundertprozentige Sicherheit kann nur ein weltweites Verbot aller Pestizide bieten", erklärte BNN-Expertin Kirsten Arp.
Selbst im grönländischen Inlandeis seien inzwischen Spuren von Pestiziden nachweisbar, heißt es in einer BNN-Mitteilung. Weltweit müssten Biobauern damit leben, unverschuldet Opfer der Schadstoffbelastung zu werden. So hätten im vergangenen Jahr 300 Biobauern in Brasilien um ihr Überleben kämpfen müssen, weil in ihrer Sojaernte Endosulfan-Rückstände gefunden wurden. In Europa sei laut Erhebungen der Europäischen Union ein Fünftel aller Oberflächengewässer schwer schadstoffbelastet.

Stop the Great Firewall of America
China operates the world’s most elaborate and opaque system of Internet censorship. But Congress, under pressure to take action against the theft of intellectual property, is considering misguided legislation that would strengthen China’s Great Firewall and even bring major features of it to America.
The legislation — the Protect IP Act, which has been introduced in the Senate, and a House version known as the Stop Online Piracy Act — have an impressive array of well-financed backers, including the United States Chamber of Commerce, the Motion Picture Association of America, the American Federation of Musicians, the Directors Guild of America, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the Screen Actors Guild. The bills aim not to censor political or religious speech as China does, but to protect American intellectual property. Alarm at the infringement of creative works through the Internet is justifiable. The solutions offered by the legislation, however, threaten to inflict collateral damage on democratic discourse and dissent both at home and around the world.

French Nuclear Energy Firm Fined $2 Million for Hacking Greenpeace
The French utility company EDF has been fined €1.5 million (more than $2 million) for hacking into the computer networks of Greenpeace.
The world's biggest nuclear energy supplier, the mostly-state-owned EDF (Électricité de France S.A) was charged with concealing stolen documents and illegal computer intrusion after hiring a Paris-based detective agency in 2006 to snoop on Greenpeace's computers in an effort to investigate, and ultimately thwart, the environmental group's plan to block EDF from building new nuclear plants in the United Kingdom.

"The forbidden Srebrenica report" - ITCY Report
The Srebrenica massacre, also known as the Srebrenica genocide, refers to the July 1995 killing, during the Bosnian War, of more than 8,000 Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims), mainly men and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by units of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of General Ratko Mladić. The mass murder was described by the Secretary-General of the United Nations as the worst crime on European soil since the Second World War. A paramilitary unit from Serbia known as the Scorpions, officially part of the Serbian Interior Ministry until 1991, participated in the massacre and it is alleged that foreign volunteers including the Greek Volunteer Guard also participated.
