Behörde will Speichelprobe aller Haushunde nehmen

"Estonian Mafia" looking for the next generation of entrepreneurs

While Estonia’s prowess in cyberconflict and cyberdefense has grown in recent years, so too has its startup scene. After all, Skype was created in Estonia in 2003 and was acquired by Microsoft for $8.5 billion last year.

Its success has inspired a new generation of Estonian startups, often collectively referred to on Twitter as the #estonianmafia, which were pitching themselves at the Latitude 59 conference held last week at Tallinn University of Technology. This university campus is also the location of Küberneetika, the Institute of Cybernetics, a Soviet-founded facility that dates back to the 1970s and became the first home of Skype decades later.

Australian minister leaves phone and laptop in Hong Kong to avoid Chinese espionage

Stephen Smith, the Australian defence minister, has adopted extraordinary measures to try to foil Chinese espionage during his first ministerial visit, leaving his phone and laptop in Hong Kong before travelling to Beijing.

Despite heading to China for a trust-building visit, Mr Smith and his staff reportedly swapped their phones, laptops and other electronic devices for fresh equipment in mainland China.

"We all know China, that's standard advice," a source involved in arranging high-level visits told Fairfax media. "We know ministers are targets."

Vintage Rolling Paper-Packaging

This site has been designed as an aid to collectors of antique cigarette rolling papers. The motivation for this site arose due to the lack of any significant resources where such items can be identified, displayed, dated and other information realised.

Myself and other collectors have been collecting these items for many years. With many of these items, it is difficult to establish even trivial information such as which country they originated from.

This site hopes to fill the gap a little and is a joint effort by a number of collectors who have been willing to share such information and provide examples of their personal collections.

Tommy Chong Fighting Prostate Cancer

Comedy legend Tommy Chong, 74, half of the iconic cannabis comedy duo Cheech & Chong, is fighting prostate cancer, he announced Saturday.

He was diagnosed "about a month ago," Chong told CNN.

He revealed his condition in an interview about cannabis decriminalization, saying he first noticed symptoms about eight years ago while in prison for selling "drug paraphernalia" on trumped up federal charges (all he did was ship glass Chong bongs through the mail to people who had ordered them).

Drone attacks create terrorist safe havens, warns former CIA official

Indiscriminate use of drones in Middle East causes too many civilian casualties, warns former CIA counterterrorism head

A former top terrorism official at the CIA has warned that President Barack Obama's controversial drone programme is far too indiscriminate in hitting targets and could lead to such political instability that it creates terrorist safe havens.

Obama's increased use of drones to attack suspected Islamic militants in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia and Yemen has become one of the most controversial aspects of his national security policy. He has launched at least 275 strikes in Pakistan alone; a rate of attack that is far higher than his predecessor George W Bush.
