Text Messages from the Gov’t
Yesterday, they started sending us text messages at night telling us to go back to normal, to go to work and to start our life in an ordinary fashion. They kept sending messages saying that school should start again. A lot of text messages kept being sent on phones. But what happened in the morning I think, is that absolutely nobody went even close to schools. I would say that 98% of shops are closed in Tripoli. If you notice, they started cleaning the streets and painting over the writings on walls and the marks of the fire that happened in the past few days they just made a big move all at once to make the city look like nothing happened. But if you look closely you can still see that they did a very bad job painting it over. It looks like they are hiding something and if you look above you can see bullet marks on a lot of buildings, squares and even on some Mosques. The people who are going around the city are obviously not from Tripoli. You can tell from the license plates. Every area here has it is own license plate, so when you go around and look at the license plates you can see that 90% of them are not locals.

The information provided here is intended to help you prepare in advance for the action and is not a substitute for the trainings, which are quite thorough. We strongly advise that at least one person from each affinity group takes both the first aid training and the protection against chemical weapons training.
Here is a basic list of supplies to bring for your first aid kit, and to donate to the medical team.
water (as much as you can carry. this is for you and your friends to drink, for irrigating eyes and wounds, for cooling off. it's worth its weight--bring lots)
several pairs of vinyl gloves (protect against blood AND pepper spray, latex works but is a common allergen)
change &/or card for telephone call
paper, pen, duct tape, marker
wound care supplies (Band-aids, steri-strips, 2x2 & 4x4 bandages, 1st aid tape, Bactroban or other antiseptic)
ace bandage

UN official: World should act on Libya crackdown
The U.N.'s top human rights official said Friday that reports of mass killings of thousands in Libya should spur the international community to "step in vigorously" to end the crackdown against anti-government protesters in the North African country.
U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay urged the U.N. Human Rights Council to use all means possible to establish an independent panel to investigate the alleged abuses by Libyan security forces and hold those responsible to account.

Libya Rebels Tighten Noose
Rebels menaced Col. Moammar Gadhafi's stronghold from all sides Thursday, as insurgent commanders said they have sent troops for an offensive against Tripoli and residents of the capital prepared their first mass demonstration in days on Friday.
Just 30 miles west of Col. Gadhafi's shrinking base of power, antiregime forces battled for the oil-industry town of Al-Zawiya. On Thursday evening, opposition forces gained control of Misrata, a coastal city 130 miles east of Tripoli.
