Der Fahrplan für die E-Card steht
Nach einigen Verzögerungen ist die Chipkarte als elektronischer Krankenscheinersatz nun angeblich in Sichtweite. Ab 13. Dezember soll sie in einer Musterpraxis im Burgenland im Echtbetrieb getestet werden, im Laufe des Jahres 2005 sollen alle Österreicher ihre E-Card bekommen.

Microsoft Fixes VPN Flaw in XP SP2
Microsoft has issued a formal fix for a problem in Windows XP Service Pack 2 that appeared almost immediately after the update's release. The problem, which affected many VPN users, causes errors when programs attempt to connect to loop-back addresses other than 127.0.0.1. Service Pack 2 blocks all such addresses; users receive an error message saying that they cannot establish a connection.

In 31 years as a teacher, coach and assistant principal, Dave Jackson always taught his students to avoid drugs. So when police discovered more than a million dollars worth of marijuana plants in a Harrison Township house that he and his wife own, he was stunned.
Jackson, a L'Anse Creuse North High School assistant principal, and his wife, Linda, have not lived in their house in the upscale neighborhood near Metropolitan Parkway for about a year.

Blurry-eyed thieves make off with three tons of reading glasses
Thieves who broke into a delivery truck in a parking lot in southwestern Sweden made off with about 150,000 pairs, or about three tons, of low-cost reading glasses. The truck, which was carrying about six tons of the glasses, mainly sold at gas stations and super markets, was parked in the large lot in Goetene when the thieves struck, according to Swedish daily Aftonbladet's Internet site.

U.S. Troops Who Visit Prostitutes May Face Harsh Penalties
U.S. troops stationed overseas could face courts-martial for patronizing prostitutes under a new regulation drafted by the Pentagon. The move is part of a Defense Department effort to lessen the possibility that troops will contribute to human trafficking in areas near their overseas bases by seeking the services of women forced into prostitution.

100 Best Philly Albums of all Time
When we decided to do this a few months ago, we were all enthusiasm and bright ideas. Excited by the city's musical legacy--which many people aren't even aware of--we thought we'd try to highlight some of the best moments and sounds in Philadelphia's cultural history. And what better way than a list? People love lists.
So we sent out an email that said, "We have decided to take on an almost insurmountable task: We're going to try to pick the 100 Best Philly Albums of All Time." At the time, we didn't know how insurmountable that task really was.

Cybill's Mad, Bad Hair Day
Wacky Cybill Shepherd couldn't be bothered to sort out her bad hair day, despite knowing she was about to appear on TV.
GMTV must surely have had a handful of stylists waiting, blowdryers, brushes and hairspray at the ready.
But instead Cybill - donning massive tinted sunnies - tucked her hair into a billowing Red Riding Hood cape...and sauntered onto the set of GMTV.

From Cat Stevens to Yusuf Islam
BBC News Online profiles the singer formerly known as Cat Stevens, whose Islamic beliefs have landed him in trouble with the American authorities. As folk musician Cat Stevens he had a string of hits in the 1960s and 1970s, including such contemporary classics as Moon Shadow, Peace Train and Morning Has Broken.
But since his conversion to Islam in 1977, the artist now known as Yusuf Islam has taken a different path.
