Mysterious People
Strange powers, occult personalities, poltergeist girls, feral children, eccentrics . . .
Mysterious People is devoted to the lives of mysterious, strange and unusual people. It consists of a series of biographical articles, with sources and further reading listed at the end of each piece. Web sites containing material on the characters and related subjects can be found listed in the Links section. There is also a full Bibliography - frequently updated, which lists specific books / articles about the characters on the site, and also more general books related the subject of strange and unusual people. This has my own brief comments on each book and links to get hold of many of the books listed.

Bikers battle grizzly bear
A mountain biker on Togwotee Pass fought off repeated charges by a grizzly bear Sunday until a companion drove the animal off with pepper spray.
Kirk Speckhals escaped his encounter with the grizzly without a scratch; he had only four dirt marks from the bear's claws on his forearm, a punctured bicycle tire and bent rim. He said he hopes others learn from the mistakes he made during his ride around Pinnacle Buttes and past Kissinger Lakes including not making enough noise to warn bears, not riding together and not carrying pepper spray.

Children's Prank Call Results In Big Drug Bust
Police in New Jersey are crediting kids playing with a phone for a big pot bust.
Officers were dispatched to a Hackensack home after two hang-up calls to 911. Police found some kids playing outside the home.
But officers say when they knocked on the door Jeffrey Chung, 26, answered it, then tried to slam it shut. Police say they forced their way in and found nine pounds of marijuana and nearly $39,000 in cash.

Tennesee Man's 5-Day Dive Sets World Record
A Tennessee man beat his own record for staying underwater with scuba gear after five days in a lake - complete with recliner, a checkerboard, music and good friends to keep him company.
Then Jerry Hall cheerfully signed a pledge to his wife never to do it again.
