PHP 5.0.0 Released!
The PHP team is proud to announce the final release of PHP 5!
Some of the key features of PHP 5 include:
- The Zend Engine II with a new object model and dozens of new features.
- XML support has been completely redone in PHP 5, all extensions are now focused around the excellent libxml2 library (www.xmlsoft.org).
- A new SimpleXML extension for easily accessing and manipulating XML as PHP objects. It can also interface with the DOM extension and vice-versa.

Dirt road campaign bites the dust
At a time when most country people are bombarding their council with requests to seal their local road, one group has just lost its battle to keep its road a gravel one.
Some of the residents of O'Connell, halfway between Bathurst and Oberon in central west New South Wales, wanted their seven kilometres of Bloomhill Road to remain gravel as they say it adds to the charm and historic nature of the area.

Google Acquires Picasa
Google Inc. today announced it acquired Picasa, Inc., a Pasadena, Calif.-based digital photo management company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Picasa enables users to easily manage and share digital photographs, and its technologies complement Google's ongoing mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful," said Jonathan Rosenberg, vice president, Product Management. "Picasa is an innovator in the field of digital photography, and we're excited that the Picasa team is joining Google."
