Trendy Arab youth TV ‘with an edge’ hits airwaves
A youth television station has been conceived from a marriage between Lebanon’s richest television station and what is expected to become the region’s largest media metropolis.
Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s Future Television and state-run Dubai Media City introduced Zen Television on Friday night, launching the $20 million joint venture with a fanfare broadcast from Dubai and Lebanon.

Man Jailed for Shooting Off His Testicles
A British man who accidentally shot himself in the testicles after drinking 15 pints of beer was jailed for five years on Tuesday for possessing an illegal firearm, a court spokesman said.
But as he walked back to the pub, the gun went off, blasting pellets into his testicles. Doctors later removed what remained of his testicles during emergency surgery.

Germany to expel two Sept. 11 terror suspects
Authorities in the German city of Hamburg have issued an order to expel two Moroccans suspected of involvement in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, local Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
Authorities sent the deportation documents to both Mounir el-Motassadeq and Abdel Ghani Mzoudi on Monday, claiming the two men pose a "particular danger" to Germany's security, the ministry said.

Worm sleeps to avoid detection
The latest mass-mailing worm, Atak, hides by going to sleep when it suspects that antivirus software is trying to detect it.
Atak was first discovered Monday. Although antivirus companies do not expect it to cause much damage, they say it will be a nuisance because it can generate a large amount of spam.

The Hillsborough County teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student was once the sweetheart of local Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, friends of hers told ABC Action News, and a former lesbian girlfriend of hers is now in the hospital because of the stress surrounding the case.
Several high school buddies of Debra Beasley (now Debra Lafave) confirmed that during her freshman and sophomore years, the popular blonde had a romantic relationship with Nick Carter. According to their recollections, Debra aspired to be a singer, Nick Carter lived in the area, and that's how the two met.

Police hunt for stolen "Shrek"
Police say they have launched a hunt for thieves who stole a 5 foot tall model of friendly green ogre Shrek -- star of the blockbuster animated movie.
Two youths made off with the model, worth 500 pounds, from a fancy dress shop in Great Barr, near Birmingham, after throwing bricks through the window.

Athens outage raises Olympic power concerns
Government officials promise measures are in place to keep games from going dark.
The worst blackout in more than a decade hit Athens and southern Greece on Monday, leaving millions sweltering in a heat wave and raising concerns about whether the lights will go out at next month's Olympics.
The government blamed the outage on "mismanagement" of the electricity grid. Still, officials promised the network was ready to handle the Aug. 13-29 Olympics.
