Bono lights up despite smoking ban


Rock and roll ain't what it used to be. U2 frontman Bono has apologised -- for having a cigarette. The breach of Ireland's new smoking ban was committed last week during a night out with Californian rockers The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Crime show is victim of thieves


Guy Ritchie's TV show Swag, which aims to catch thieves red-handed on hidden cameras, has had thousands of pounds worth of camera equipment stolen.

Burglars took the items from a London edit suite on Wednesday night after producers had been finishing off the second series of the Five show.

Bear's hospital visit turns fatal


A black bear ended up with more than a sore head when it activated automatic doors and wandered into a US hospital.

Startled doctors, nurses and patients saw the 345lb (156kg) animal walking through the emergency ward and into an office full of computers.

Teenager causes car-jet crash


Two Texas teenagers escaped serious injury Tuesday in a bizarre car-plane crash that caused an estimated $1 million damage to a private jet owned by Constellation Brands wine company.

The accident occurred when 33-year-old Antoinette Y. Bailey of Manorville, Suffolk County, left her niece, Kayla Wiltz, 13, of Houston, and a friend, Annessa John, 13, of Missouri City, Texas, in a car while she went into the office at the Penn Yan Airport shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, said Yates County Sheriff's Investigator Marty Reynolds.

The pop tart, who just had to call off her Onyx Hotel Tour due to a bad knee injury, moved her dancer boyfriend, Kevin Federline, lock, stock and trucker hat into her New York and Beverly Hills homes after her arthroscopic surgery early last week. Now the buzz is that Federline has popped the question and Spears is said to have accepted his offer.

An eccentric multimillionaire running for mayor of this rough border city has apologized for saying his favorite animal is "woman."

Jorge Hank Rhon, who has a private zoo with more than 20,000 animals, made the comment during an interview last week with the Mexico City newspaper El Universal.

A METEORITE reportedly the size of a house fell on the NSW south coast overnight, exploding in a bright flash, police have said. A driver on the Hume Highway shortly after 9pm (AEST) near Menangle reported an object the size of a house falling from the sky.

Superintendent Peter West had to dash from the meeting and drive home to comfort his wife Pauline in Folkestone, Kent.
