Homeless Man In Texas Set On Fire
A group of men set a homeless man ablaze as he slept in an attack captured on surveillance videotape. Police were looking for up to eight men who participated in the attack Tuesday outside an agency that helps the homeless. The victim, Lucas Adama Wiser, 21, remained hospitalized Thursday with third-degree burns.

CIA contractor charged with assaulting detainee
A civilian contractor working for the CIA was arrested yesterday and charged with assaulting a detainee in Afghanistan who later died. They were the first criminal charges filed against a contractor since the scandal of abuse in U.S. prisons overseas broke in April.

Disney Doom: '80 Days' the Latest $100 Million Flop After Just One Day
Disney, the movie studio that can't buy a break these days, is about to have a very bad weekend.
Their big new $100 million-plus movie, "Around the World in 80 Days," opened on Wednesday to very little interest. Its take was about $1.5 million on over 2,700 screens.

Man electrocuted after car wreck
DRIVER WALKED INTO POWER LINE HE'D HIT
A Russell County man survived a car wreck late Wednesday but was killed as he walked away and touched a 7,200-volt power line he'd knocked down.
An autopsy yesterday showed that Brandon T. Popplewell, 24, was electrocuted, said county Coroner Larry Skaggs.

Lightning Strike Kills Woman Carrying Umbrella
Houston police said Catherine Bombasi, 64, was struck by lightning two doors down from her home in the 10900 block of Wickersham near Walnut Bend around 9:30 a.m.
Bombasi's husband said she was walking to catch a bus, carrying a Mickey Mouse umbrella, when lightning struck her.

Woman Allegedly Bites Off Boyfriend's Tongue
A couple was reportedly making up from an argument and kissing passionately when the 43-year-old woman (pictured, left) bit off 1½ inches of her boyfriend's tongue.
According to The Chicago Sun-Times, the woman told police that she became frightened when her 47-year-old boyfriend squeezed her too tightly while they were kissing and her impluse was to bite down.

New livecam can handle 70 megapixels
SMALL SWISS COMPANY ROUNDSHOT has released an interesting new item, the 360° internet Livecam. The Livecam is a digital 360° camera, capable of 70 megapixels.
The Swiss company claims the Roundshot Livecam uses a high-resolution digicam designed for pro photography, as well as slit-scan technology, which apparently allows for "seamless panoramas" of up to 360°. The cam is also capable of a high zoom factor, zooming up to 20 x.
