Google News Map
I was working with World 66 the open travel site with some mapping stuff and got a list of countries and their coordinates. Why not parse Google News, find the first name match and draw a map with the latest headlines on the coordinates of the countries.

The Gibbs Aquada
It's a car that can do over 100mph on land, and then transform into a boat that's capable of doing over 30mph on the water. It's being touted as the world's first High Speed Amphibian vehicle. It kind of reminds me of the car from Spy Hunter. Of course, it sells for about US$265,000, so you might as well be a spy to drive it.

Social Circles
intends to partially reveal the social networks that emerge in mailing lists. The idea was to visualize in near real-time the social hierarchies and the main subjects they address. When subscribing to a mailing you never know who the principals are, how many people are listening or what subjects they are talking about.

A tiny dachshund from Rosemount, Minnesota, appears to have at least that many. The pooch was run over by freight trains at least three times in five days -- twice by the same conductor. The distinction has earned the dog a nickname -- Railroad Joe.
