Allies at odds over how to fight Afghan drugs boom
Britain and the United States are at odds over how to deal with the massive growth in the cultivation of opium poppies in Afghanistan.
Poppy growing areas in the country doubled between 2002 and 2003 to a level 36 times higher than under Taliban rule, according to figures released by the US last week.

A Texas woman was sentenced to 10 years in jail Thursday for running over the manager of a McDonald’s with her car because she wanted mayonnaise on her cheeseburger. “I gave her everything she asked for — mayonnaise, no mustard, onions — everything I could possibly do for this lady. We count down the lurid, the sordid and the sad Hollywood has always served up sordid stories filled with unsavory characters and plenty of sex and violence. And we're not talking about the movies. As long as there have been celebrities, there have been scandals. It seems there's nothing we love more than gorging on a star's public humiliation and pain. The colors are found based on hue (how you think), saturation (how much you do about it), and lightness (the effect you think it has).
