Internationale Verbraucherschutz- und Bürgerrechtsorganisationen wiesen jüngst in einem gemeinsamen Positionspapier auf die Gefahren für Privatsphäre und Bürgerrechte hin, die durch RFID-Etiketten entstehen können. Für Telepolis sprach Christiane Schulzki-Haddouti mit padeluun vom Bielefelder Verein Foebud e.V., dem Unterzeichner des Positionspapiers sowie Organisator des deutschen Big-Brother-Preises. Erst vor kurzem erhielt der Foebud-Verein von der Stiftung "Bürgerrechte in der digitalen Gesellschaft" 15.000 Euro zur Realisierung eines RFID-Lesegeräts für Bürger zugesprochen.

In einer Blitzaktion hat die bayerische Polizei in München das Mitglied einer der gefährlichsten Terrorgruppen im Irak festgenommen. Der Mann soll Selbstmordattentäter für Ansar-e Islam geworben und deren Reise in den Irak organisiert haben.

Will Segways become battlefield bots?
It's called the Segway Human Transporter, but the Pentagon is drafting the two-wheeled scooter as part of a plan to develop battlefield robots that think on their own and communicate with troops.
The program is still in the research phase, so the self-balancing scooters aren't expected to report to boot camp anytime soon.

Streitbar ist er geblieben: Günter Amendt, der wohl bekannteste Sexualaufklärer der 68-er Generation und ausgewiesene Bob-Dylan-Experte. Nun war der mittlerweile 64-jährige Hamburger zu Gast im Literarischen Salon der Uni Hannover, um sein neues Buch "No Drugs No Future" vorzustellen. Damaged and dead monkeys? Call in the feds! In 2002, the prestigious journal Science stunned club-going kids everywhere with a study from Johns Hopkins University researcher George Ricaurte. Probably not coincidentally, the study also furthered the cause of such draconian laws as the Reducing Americans Vulnerability to Ecstasy (RAVE) Act, which notoriously allows the police to shut down clubs and bars and prosecute their owners if any patron is caught using the apparently deadly drug Ecstasy on their premises.

A Territory motorist has been booked by police for driving too slowly. Auditor Saud Shehzad said he was doing 62km/h in a 70km/h zone.
``The officer said I was going too slowly,'' he said.
His infringement notice reads: ``Obstruct traffic by travelling unreasonably slowly''.
