Officials checking into mysterious youths who emerged from wilderness
Two half-starved male youths who recently emerged from the British Columbia wilderness claiming to have lived since birth in near isolation are now in limbo as officials try to determine how to help them. The brothers, Thomas and William Green, were discovered camping in the bush behind a general store in Vernon, British Columbia some weeks ago by local residents who have since given them food, clothing and shelter.

Die Tarnung war alles andere als perfekt, funktioniert hat sie trotzdem: In Japan hat sich ein Exhibitionist vor einem vermeintlichen Schulmädchen entblößt. Doch in der Schuluniform mit Minirock steckte ein Polizist, der sich nicht einmal die Beine rasiert hatte.

Der Entertainer James Last wird 75 und tourt. Seine Musik hat es sogar in Quentin Tarantinos neuen Film geschafft.
Die Kompositionen des Orchesterleiters James Last sind Geschmackssache, aber legendär. Und das nicht erst seitdem Easy Listening für kurz Zeit zum Trend erklärt wurde.

Google für die Task-Leiste
Die Suchmaschine Google stellt ein neues nützliches Helferlein zum Download bereit. Die Google Deskbar bettet sich die Task-Leiste von Windows XP, 2000, 98 oder ME ein. Ihr Funktionsumfang entspricht ungefähr der der Erweiterungsleiste für den Internet Explorer. Allerdings benötigt sie keinen geöffneten Browser, sondern zeigt die Ergebnisse in einem sehr flinken "Mini-Browser" auf Basis des Internet Explorers an.

Gipsbein wurde Frau zum tödlichen Verhängnis
Betrunkene Nachbarn, aggressive Hornissen und ein Gips am Bein sind die Ursachen für den Tod einer 60-jährigen Frau. Als die gereizten Insekten attackierten, konnte eine Frau nicht schnell genug fliehen.

Anthrax Scare Closes 11 D.C. Mail Centers
The Postal Service closed 11 Washington-area post offices Thursday while authorities ran tests to determine whether anthrax was detected at a Navy site that handles mail for federal agencies. Postal Service spokesman Azeezaly Jaffer said authorities decided "out of an abundance of caution" to close the facilities and test them for any biohazard contamination.

McDonald’s said to be in iTunes deal
Fast-food giant McDonald’s is planning to give away 1 billion song downloads from Apple’s online music store, according to a report. The New York Post said Thursday that it is not clear how McDonald’s would distribute the music, but said an announcement is expected soon. If true, the McDonald’s deal would eclipse a pact that Apple Computer announced with PepsiCo to give away 100 million songs early next year.

US National Public Radio (NPR) has inherited what is believed to be the largest single donation bequeathed to an American cultural institution.
NPR was left more than $200m by Joan B Kroc, the philanthropist widow of the founder of worldwide fast food giant McDonalds, Ray Kroc.
