Did Russians Use Blog To Aid Iraq
The U.S. and British military won't have the Russian secret services to contend with in Iraq anymore, at least not on the Net. Early last week, the Russian military analysis Web site, Iraqwar.ru, discontinued its daily "Russian military intel update."
The three-week-old, daily feature - was it real-world intelligence useful to the Iraqis or merely the product of a fertile imagination? - claimed to be based on leaks from senior Russian intelligence officials.

CNN's future obituaries
While all news organizations prepare obituaries in advance of the deaths of famous individuals, the folks at CNN inadvertently gave the Internet-surfing public a chance to preview how the network's web site would note the demise of Vice President Dick Cheney, Ronald Reagan, and a few other prominent figures. Until earlier this afternoon, a CNN server housed mock-ups of web pages announcing the yet-to-happen deaths. Sites are blogged down in controversy
Journalism and the Internet should be a perfect fit. But as demand grows for instant online access to news, so do questions about how it is presented and by whom.
Blogs, the trendy name for an individual's online collection of musings and Web links, have come into their own during the current conflict with Iraq. Many people turned to the Web for war reports and analysis and found some of the best work available online was being done by thoughtful bloggers who seemingly updated their sites with fresh news and commentary every 15 seconds or so.

Xbox Hacked - without a mod chip
Following on from the news that it's possible to run unsigned applications on the Xbox by using a loophole in EA's Agent Under Fire, crackers have discovered how to mod the system without a physical modchip.
The new system breaks open the Xbox for running third-party applications (including the Linux operating system) or pirated games just as effectively as standard mod chips, but the only physical alteration needed to the box is a very minor soldering task to link up two jumper points on the system board.

Discoverer of LSD Urges Medical Use of the Drug
The man who discovered the hallucinogenic drug LSD 60 years ago this week says its use should be allowed under controlled circumstances, including to help psychiatric patients.
Dr. Albert Hofmann, now 97, made the discovery of the properties of LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) at the Sandoz pharmaceutical research laboratory in Basel, Switzerland, on April 19, 1943.
The road to the discovery started in 1929 when he shunned the synthetic chemistry so fashionable at the time to work on the chemistry of natural products.

Advice for Satanic Web Page Design
To be taken seriously, the True Satanist must have a well designed web site. The aim of this page to assist you in creating the perfect design.
The preferred color scheme is black background and red text. Immediately, this identifies a Satanic site. A legitimate, if frequently overlooked alternative is the one used here - 222 gray, and of course the red text. The perfect symbolism of 222 gray made up of 222 Red, 222 Blue, and 222 Green cannot be overlooked. However the message conveyed by the sum of the three components may be too subtle for some.

Your glow stick could land you in jail
The latest incarnation of the RAVE Act punishes drug users and bystanders alike -- and tramples civil liberties.
Last Thursday, the House and Senate almost unanimously passed the National AMBER Alert Network Act of 2003, a popular bill that will soon create a nationwide kidnapping alert system. Coming in the wake of a year of high-profile child abductions -- from Elizabeth Smart (whose parents supported the bill) to Samantha Runnion -- the bill was a no-brainer, destined to pass quickly and smoothly through Congress.
