1,800 pornographic Web sites blocked
Whats up with the other 6 millions???
Pakistani telecommunication authorities have blocked more than 1,800 pornographic Web sites in an attempt to protect Internet users from what they call their corrupting and evil influence.
More than 60 percent of an estimated one million internet users in Islamic Pakistan visit pornographic sites, said Zahir Mohammed Khan, a senior official of the state-run Pakistan Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (PTCL).
"We launched a campaign to block such Web sites in February and, so far, have identified and blocked 1,800 of them," he told Reuters by telephone from Islamabad.

Humanoid robots wow Japanese
Humanoid robots, some of which can even walk on two legs, dominate the world's largest robot exhibition, held this weekend in Yokohama, southwest of Tokyo. The show brings together more than 90 different types of robot from 38 companies, colleges and other organisations, up from last year's 72 bots.
As usual, Honda's Asimo stole the limelight in a way that would have the other automatons hopping mad.

Wear your cell phone on your wrist
After seven decades, reality is catching up to Dick Tracy's wristwatch phone -- Japan's cell phone giant NTT DoCoMo will soon start selling a mobile phone that's worn around the wrist and snaps off to become a regular handset.
"We are targeting young businessmen in their 20s and 30s as the device looks a bit rugged," DoCoMo spokesman Takuya Kono said.

Clinton tells Bush to "go get funked."
George Clinton, aka Dr. Funkenstein, has a message for President Bush: Go get funked!
“The world needs more funk because they’ve obviously got too much idle time,” Clinton said by phone during a tour stop in Chicago. “I mean, when they can’t come up with nothing but war, they must really be getting bored.”
“Bored” isn’t a word he would use to describe himself. Spreading funk is what the 62-year-old Patriarch of Funk does best.

A state-funded erection
A German pensioner has won a court case to get the government to pay for his Viagra tablets. The former civil servant has diabetes and suffers erectile dysfunction which affects 98% of male diabetics. But while retired civil servants usually get state aid for their health needs, the authorities refused to pay for the drug, although it had been prescribed by the man's GP. In his court case, the man referred to World Health Organisation standards which list sexual activity as a basic need and right.

Nostalgic Small Town Puts Cannabis on Its Flag
All leaders wanted to do was celebrate the history of their small town by creating a flag everyone would be proud to see flying above the rooftops.
Instead, they have been mocked on national television for making a local plant their emblem. The local plant in question is cannabis.
Some 250 kilometers southwest of Moscow in the Bryansk region, a yellow, green and white flag now flies above the town hall. In the top left-hand corner is the plant more widely known for its hallucinogenic qualities and for being depicted on T-shirts and student posters.

Hemp bill not without criticism
Some say growing the plant for industry could hamper police investigations. Industrial hemp could be Oregon’s next cash crop if lawmakers sign off on a bill that got a hearing before the Senate Agricultural Committee Friday. But opponents say hemp plants are difficult to distinguish from illegal marijuana plants.
They also worry that cultivating hemp could inhibit police investigations of people growing pot.
