Valium is forty years old
Much has changed in Pat Edwards's life in the past 40 years. She has divorced, she has moved from London to the South Coast, she has become a grandmother. But one thing has stayed the same: she is still taking the Valium.
Pat Edwards was 25 when she was first prescribed the drug at the end of 1962, a few months before its official launch the following year. She had become unaccountably weepy after the birth of her second child, a condition we may now recognise as post-natal depression. Her local GP in Hackney gave her four days' supply of Valium, a suitably cautious amount for a new treatment, and four days later, after some improvement, Edwards was given another small supply. The drugs seemed to have an immediate effect, and she made plans to return to her job as a hairdresser. But then something else happened.

Schwarzenegger Undergoes Surgery for 'T3' Injury
It appears The Terminator isn't as indestructible as he used to be. Action star Arnold Schwarzenegger (news) was released on Thursday from a Santa Monica hospital where he underwent surgery to repair a shoulder injury suffered while performing a stunt on the set of his upcoming film "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines."

Operating Missions as Nodes on the Internet
OMNI is the first end-to-end demonstration of operating NASA missions as nodes on an IP (Internet Protocol) network utilizing existing technologies. OMNI demonstrates a new approach to mission design and operations and increases understanding of cost savings, benefits, and risks.
Jan 16, 2003: CANDOS lanuched aboard STS-107! Approximately 2 1/2 hours after launch, the CANDOS processor was powered up and successfully booted. Several successful ground station passes were completed on the first day, using mobile-IP to automatically establish a routing tunnel from the control center at GSFC to the appropriate groundstation. Dabei steht sogar die Trennung von der Musiksparte Warner Music zur Debatte, wie US-Medien berichten. Diese Überlegungen stünden allerdings noch ganz am Anfang, verlautete es aus dem Unternehmen.

e-bay deletes purported shuttle debris
On-line auction Web site eBay deleted several items billed as debris from the space shuttle Columbia from the on-line auction site Saturday, warning anyone attempting to sell fragments from the doomed shuttle could be prosecuted.
Company spokesman Kevin Pursglove said customer-service representatives received a handful of listings throughout the day from people purporting to have found debris in Texas.
