An all-time-high
Pirelli Calendars
Derek Forsyth had the idea in 1963. The PR-boss of the tyre-manufacturer Pirelli convinced his boss to stop giving away just the usual christmas gifts. No more keyrings, no more pocket knives. Instead - a calendar, with photos of gorgeous women, scantily dressed. Something special, unique. The Pirelli-Calendar was born - and Edition No. 1 was a total flop.

Army grounds Apache helicopters
Dozens of the Army's new £3bn Apache attack helicopters will be kept in storage for four years due to a shortage of trained pilots, the government's spending watchdog has said. Eleven of the 25 helicopters so far delivered - out of an order for 67 - have been mothballed in a move described as "wasteful" by the National Audit Office.
