Pair of Japanese mangoes fetches 2,000 dollars
The mangoes, produced in southern Miyazaki Prefecture, were sold for 200,000 yen in the season's first auction here, an official at fruit wholesaler Tokyo Seika said. The buyer's identity was not disclosed.
The price far surpassed the previous Japanese record of 38,000 yen bid last year for a similar pair.

Scientists have developed amazing variants of vegetable where the traditional white florets have been changed to a garish orange, purple and green.
The "rainbow cauliflowers" are said to taste the same as the normal varieties, but add a splash of colour to the dinner table.

A giant white truffle weighing 1.5 kilograms went off in a bid to the Macau casino mogul and billionaire Stanley Ho for an astounding $330,000 at an auction on Saturday, who outbid personalities of Damien Hirst and Sheik Mansoor Bin Zayed al Nahyan fame! The truffle beat the previous Guinness World Record holder truffle, the 1.29-kg truffle that was found in Croatia in 1999, to become the biggest one in the world.
