Diplomats discuss Libya's future as Italy plots Gaddafi's escape route
Rome is negotiating an African haven for the Libyan leader as international pressure mounts on him to go.
Efforts appear to be under way to offer Muammar Gaddafi a way of escape from Libya, with Italy saying it was trying to organise an African haven for him, and the US signalling it would not try to stop the dictator from fleeing.
The move came amid mounting diplomatic and military pressure on Gaddafi as Britain tries to assemble a global consensus demanding he surrender power while intensifying air strikes against his forces. An international conference in London – including the UN, Arab states, the African Union, and more than 40 foreign ministers – will focus on co-ordinating assistance in the face of a possible humanitarian disaster and building a unified international front in condemnation of the Gaddafi regime and in support of Nato-led military action in Libya.

Turkey thinks it can & should be the only solution to every conflict on earth & their self-congratulation & arrogance knows no boundaries
Turkey has become a country screaming left and right on every issue the past few years.
Turkey's arrogance and lack of sensitivity & respect for the Libyan people gets me boiling.
This is a result of Turkey's absurd and dogmatic "continuity" approach to Libya. It's not an option, world knows it.

Gaddafi’s Campaign Of Disappearances
Atef ‘Abd al-Qader Al-Atrash, a prominent blogger and father of two, was last seen attending a gathering near Benghazi’s port on February 17, when he is believed to have been seized by forces loyal to Colonel al-Gaddafi. A relative of his told Amnesty that, when trying to call his phone, a strange man answered and said, “This is what happens to those who throw stones at us.”
A relative of a 14-year-old schoolboy Hassan Mohammad al-Qata’ni gone missing on February 20th told Amnesty researchers:
“I haven’t slept since he’s gone missing, nobody in my family has slept; we are so worried; he is just a kid; we don’t know what to do, where to look for him, who to turn to for help.”</p>

The story of Eman Al Obeidi is fast becoming a rallying cry for Libya's women.
After Obeidi pled with journalists to tell her story of rape and abuse at the regime's hands, spokesman Moussa Ibrahim claimed Obeidi - a lawyer - was actually a prostitute. But it seems very few are buying it.
"We will never leave you alone, Eman, we will sacrifice our lives just for you and we're all, old and young, supporting you," said one woman at a protest.

Tiny Qatar flexes muscles in no-fly Libya campaign
In Libya's skies, Qatar is punching above its weight.
From an air base in Crete, the tiny Persian Gulf nation has started its biggest, farthest combat deployment — including a third of its fighter-jet fleet — and given the first Arab face to the Western-led coalition hoping to protect Libyan civilians from Moammar Gadhafi's firepower.
For the oil- and gas-rich country that brought the world Al-Jazeera TV and recently won the right to host the 2022 World Cup, the effort marks Qatar's latest push onto the world stage.

Operation Odyssey Dawn explained (Day 9)
Quoting Libya’s Jana national news agency RIA Novosti reported that the coalition planes “had eliminated almost all the tanks of Gaddafi’s forces in Ajdabiya, leaving them no chance for defense” on Mar. 26, Day 8 of Odyssey Dawn. For sure, the allied planes are giving the rebels the support they need to push westward towards Tripoli. With most of the Gaddafi’s forces hit by allied strikes, the rebels retook both Ajdabiya, a strategic oil town located about 60 miles to the south of the revolutionaries main stronghold of Benghazi, and Ras Lanuf oil complex. A rebel representative affirmed today that anti-governative plan to start exporting oil from various fields in the territory under their control in less than a week, and that they have already signed a contract with a Qatari oil company that agreed to export and market the oil (100.000 to 130.000 barrels up to 300.000 barrels a day in the future) for them. At least, Odyssey Dawn unlocked the Libyan oil export.
