The shadowy company behind The Pirate Bay
Dutch copyright holders this week filed documents in court alleging that The Pirate Bay's mysterious owner, Reservella, is nothing more than a front for The Pirate Bay administrators, who have been in legal trouble for years. Pirate Bay spokesperson Peter Sunde calls the document a forgery.

The Pirate Bay Relocates to a Nuclear Bunker
The Pirate Bay is going on a road trip through Europe, one they hope to end today in a former NATO bunker. After a move from Sweden to the Ukraine, The Pirate Bay has now arrived at CyberBunker, an ISP that can provide them with a facility that can resist a nuclear attack as well as electromagnetic pulse bombs.

US Senate cyber security bill sparks debate, "internet takeover" fears
Well, this little viral number didn't take long to become the stuff of screaming Drudge sirens. So, over at CNET, Declan McCullagh wrote about an update to a cybersecurity bill that first circulated this spring. In his interpretation of the bill (which I haven't read in entirety, full disclosure), Declan says the bill gives the White House new power to unplug private-sector computers from the Internet in the case of national emergency.

Der Kampf um die Piratenbucht geht weiter - an mehreren Fronten. Ein schwedischer Internetprovider hat The Pirate Bay auf gerichtliche Anordnung hin aus dem Netz geworfen, nun ist er selbst offline. Der Kauf der Bittorrent-Plattform wird womöglich platzen, denn die Käufer stehen unter Betrugsverdacht. Die Musikbranche jubelt bereits.

Internet junkie detox center claims US first
A dedicated internet and gaming addiction recovery program has opened shop in Fall City, Washington, which claims to be the first of its kind in the US.
The center, called reStart, is a 45-day anti-internet detox program located at the soothingly-named rural Heavensfield Retreat Center located some 20 minutes away from Microsoft's Redmond HQ.

Bungling cybercops' r00t-y0u.org sting backfires - Hack me? Hack you!
Australian Federal police have been humbled after boasting of taking over an underground cybercrime forum - only for hackers to break into a federal police computer system, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Police computer security experts claimed responsibility for taking over the r00t-you.org cybercrime forum as part of a sting operation on ABC's Four Corners TV programme on Monday night entitled Fear in the Fast Lane. The Feds had reportedly configured their own systems as a honeypot designed to track and trace denizens logging into the forum. Police gained access to the forum not through infiltration but after raiding the Melbourne home of the forum's alleged administrator last Wednesday.

Wie Neonazis das Netz nutzen
Szenetreffs, Hitlergruß und Hakenkreuze - daran waren Rechtsextreme lange Zeit sofort zu erkennen. Nun aber versuchen Neonazis mit Videos, sozialen Netzwerken und Versandhandel im Internet, Nachwuchs anzulocken - teilweise geben sie sich dabei betont harmlos.
Das Erscheinungsbild ist normal, teilweise geradezu harmlos. Geworben wird mit professionell produzierten Videos, Forderungen nach Tierschutz und Profilen in sozialen Netzwerken. Es geht um Themen und Lebenswirklichkeit von Jugendlichen. Auf den Gebrauch szenetypischer Symbole oder Hassparolen wird bewusst verzichtet. Die aktuellen Internetauftritte der rechtsextremen Szene sollen Jugendliche anlocken und neugierig machen - erst bei einem Blick auf die verlinkten Seiten offenbart sich dem aufmerksamen Besucher, welche Gesinnung die Macher haben.

Underground forum r00t-y0u.org gets pwned
A notice on underground cybercrime forum r00t-y0u.org on Thursday suggested the site had become part of a law enforcement sting operation. However hacker hijinks and mischief making seem equally likely explanations for the incident, at the time of writing.
