Journalists 'won't be allowed to report during first wave of Iraq raids'
JOURNALISTS face a total news blackout for up to 24 hours, with the launch of any attack on Iraq.
The aim is to stop the Iraqi regime being alerted to the first wave of attacks before they happen, by international news agencies, particularly television.
It means the public may only learn the war has started when the blackout has been lifted.
This may last from anywhere from two to 24 hours, depending on the situation at the time.

Saddam Hussein dead since 1998 ???
To the untrained eye, there seems little doubt that the man in the picture is Saddam Hussein: the small dark eyes, bushy eyebrows and plump jowls are all clearly characteristic of the 66-year-old Iraqi President.
"I believe he is dead," Mr. al-Essadi said. "I have seen secret documents that say he was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer in 1998 and given six months to live." Mr. Hussein's first wife has left him and returned to her first husband, Mr. al-Essadi added, which "would never happen if Saddam was alive."

First victim of War - Freedom of Speech
The web at war As America's media slavishly back their President on Iraq, the public is going online for more balanced views, says Andy Goldberg
More than 30 years ago, pictures of corpses and body bags on television in the United States helped to turn political opinion against the Vietnam War. Now, as the world's military superpower embarks on another foreign adventure, Americans at home are seeking out more anti-war pictures and opinions – not from their media, which declines to show them, but from the internet.

A Letter to George W. Bush on the Eve of War
George W. Bush 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, DC
Dear Governor Bush:
So today is what you call "the moment of truth," the day that "France and the rest of world have to show their cards on the table." I'm glad to hear that this day has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya, having survived 440 days of your lying and conniving, I wasn't sure if I could take much more. So I'm glad to hear that today is Truth Day, 'cause I got a few truths I would like to share with you.
