Allies bomb key Iraqi targets
· 'Undeclared war' enters new phase · Missile systems hit · Rocket launchers destroyed
Britain and the United States have all but fired the first shots of the second Gulf war by dramatically extending the range of targets in the "no-fly zones" over Iraq to soften up the country for an allied ground invasion.
As Baghdad threatened to stop destroying its Samoud 2 missiles if the US presses ahead with its invasion plans, allied pilots have attacked surface-to-surface missile systems and are understood to have hit multiple-launch rockets.

Baghdad reveals location of nerve agent and anthrax
Ongoing excavations have uncovered important quantities of anthrax and VX nerve agent, Iraqi presidential adviser Amer al-Saadi said yesterday.
United Nations inspectors have been seeking clarification of the whereabouts of such deadly agents for years. Mr Saadi said excavations at the al-Aziziya air base, 104 km south-west of Baghdad, had uncovered nearly all bomb fragments filled with tonnes of toxic agents which Iraq insists it destroyed unilaterally in 1991.

French fries off US menu
A fast food restaurant in America says it has received huge support after renaming its French fries, in protest at France's opposition to the United States' stance on Iraq.
Neal Rowland, the owner of Cubbie's diner in Beaufort, North Carolina, said his newly-named 'freedom fries' have been a hit with customers.

U.S.: Citizens in Iraq should depart
With the threat of war looming, the State Department urged all Americans Wednesday "to avoid travel to Iraq" and advised Americans there to leave.
"Foreigners present in Iraq have in the past been used as 'human shields' by the regime during periods of confrontation with the international community," the travel warning says. "There are credible reports that foreigners may face the risk of kidnapping in Iraq."

Waiting for the webcam in iraq
The embargo imposed on Iraq for more than a decade, and the pre- war situation that the country now is facing, makes the webcam in Iraq project face a range of new difficulties. Among other things, the frequent cuts in the electric supply and problems with the connection will most likely interrupt the transferring of images during some point.

Waiting for the webcam in iraq / Deutsch

Corporate Suppliers for Iraq's Weapons Programs
The following companies in the USA, Britain, France, China, Russia and other countries are identified in the Iraqi weapons report, submitted to the United Nations 2002-12-07, as having supplied materials or advice to Iraq in the development of its various weapons programs. Whatever "weapons of mass destruction" Iraq may (or may not) possess (or once possessed) were obtained or developed with the assistance and cooperation of many Western governments and companies, mostly American and British. This is interesting, since it is the political leaders of the USA and Britain who have been loudest in denouncing Saddam Hussein as an "evil dictator" intent on using his military might to terrorize civilian populations — exactly what those leaders have themselves been doing in Iraq for the last ten years. Who can be silent in the face of such blatant hypocrisy?

Coming Soon to Baghdad – The Preview of the E-Bomb
It will begin with a sharp crack, like the sound of a bolt of lightning hitting its target. In an instant, Baghdad and its environs will go dark. Even though turned off, fluorescent lights and television sets will glow and the smell of ozone mixed with the odor of smoldering plastic will seep from outlet covers as electric wires arc and telephone lines melt. Palm Pilots will feel warm to the touch, their batteries overloaded. Computers, and every bit of data on them, will be history.
