Oil tanker explodes off Yemen


A French-owned oil tanker is on fire off the coast of Yemen after an explosion on board. Yemeni officials say they do not consider the blast an act of sabotage, but a diplomat at the French embassy said early reports, though contradictory, suggested a terrorist attack.

Italy Arrests Egyptians for U.S. War Cemetery Plot


Italian police said Saturday they had arrested three Egyptian fishermen suspected of plotting to attack a cemetery of American war dead south of Rome. Explosives and maps highlighting the Nettuno American Cemetery and Memorial in the town of Anzio were seized in an apartment in Italy belonging to one of the men, a police official said. "They were preparing a symbolic attack against the American cemetery," the official said, adding police suspected the men were tied to Islamic terrorism.

Alleged Terrorist Sleeper-Cell Arrested In Oregon


Attorney General John Ashcroft says authorities have arrested several people on charges they conspired to wage war on the United States and provide support to al-Qaida. Ashcroft says the arrests were made in Oregon and Michigan, and that six people are facing terror-related charges. He said five of the suspects are U.S. citizens, including one with U.S. military training.
