Activist's memorial service disrupted

Israeli forces fired teargas and stun grenades yesterday in an attempt to break up a memorial service for Rachel Corrie, the American peace activist killed by an army bulldozer in Gaza on Sunday.

Witnesses including several dozen foreigners and Palestinian supporters say Israeli armoured vehicles tried to disperse the gathering at the spot in Rafah refugee camp where Ms Corrie was crushed to death.

Diablo Canyon power plant a prime terror target

For an installation that generates about 10 percent of California's electricity, the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant near here seems remarkably unobtrusive.

Tucked between the wide Pacific and hills burgeoning with vernal greenery and grazing livestock, it's smaller than one might expect.

Pakistan Arrests Top Al Qaeda Member Al-Jaziri

Pakistani authorities said they had arrested a leading al Qaeda member, Moroccan national Yasir al-Jaziri, in the eastern city of Lahore on Saturday.

The arrest comes two weeks after the capture of another senior al Qaeda figure, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, in the northern city of Rawalpindi.

Mohammed is suspected of being a leading figure behind the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States and authorities have said his arrest brought useful leads in their efforts to track down al Qaeda members including the group's leader, Osama bin Laden (news - web sites).

"He (al-Jaziri) is less important than Khalid Sheikh Mohammed but he is quite an important person," Secretary of the Interior Ministry Tasneem Noorani told Reuters.

Cyber terrorism 'overhyped'

The threat posed by cyber-terrorism has been overhyped and the net is unlikely to become a launch pad for terror attacks. That was the conclusion of a panel of security and technology experts brought together at the CeBIT technology fair to consider the threat posed by net attacks on businesses and consumers.

Panel members said companies faced far more serious threats from ordinary criminals, fraudsters and pranksters than they did from technology-literate terrorists.

Combating these real threats would take work by almost everyone involved in the running and use of the net.
