Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Was Waterboarded 183 Times in One Month
I've put this detail in a series of posts, but it really deserves a full post. According to the May 30, 2005 Bradbury memo, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was waterboarded 183 times in March 2003 and Abu Zubaydah was waterboarded 83 times in August 2002.
On page 37 of the OLC memo, in a passage discussing the differences between SERE techniques and the torture used with detainees, the memo explains:
The CIA used the waterboard "at least 83 times during August 2002" in the interrogation of Zubaydah. IG Report at 90, and 183 times during March 2003 in the interrogation of KSM, see id. at 91.

Ermittlungen zu Terror in Bombay führen nach Österreich
Eine SIM-Karte, die in einem Telefon der Attentäter sichergestellt wurde, sei von einem Telecom-Unternehmen in Wien ausgestellt worden, wie in einem Online-Artikel der Zeitung "Indian Express" von Donnerstag zu lesen ist. Aus dem österreichischen Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz und Terrorismusbekämpfung (BVT) wurde bestätigt, dass es sich um eine österreichische Nummer zu handeln scheint.

One of the suspected planners of last month's attack by gunmen on Mumbai was arrested by Pakistani security forces in a raid on a militant camp, an official with a charity linked to the militant group said on Monday.

Bin Laden 'cut off from al-Qaeda'
The CIA says Osama Bin Laden is isolated from the day-to-day operations of al-Qaeda, but that the organisation is still the greatest threat to the US.
CIA director Michael Hayden said the Saudi militant was probably hiding in the tribal area of north-west Pakistan.
Mr Hayden said Bin Laden was "putting a lot of energy into his own survival" and that his capture remained the US government's top priority.

Der Entwurf des BKA-Gesetzes zum Download
Seit einigen Tagen geistert der aktuelle “Entwurf eines Gesetzes zur Abwehr von Gefahren des internationalen Terrorismus durch das Bundeskriminalamt” (Kurz BKA-Gesetz) durch die Medien und die Politik. Leider sind die beteiligten Ministerien nicht in der Lage, bzw. ist es anscheinend nicht gewollt, den Entwurf auch transparent als Diskussionsgrundlage online zu stellen.

Craigslist and eBay: Terrorist arms bazaars of DEATH
American government investigators believe that eBay and Craigslist are becoming international arms bazaars, facilitating the sale of "sensitive and stolen US military items" to the agents of sinister foreign powers - or even (gasp) terrorists. However, they have produced very little evidence to back this up.
In a newly-released report (pdf) entitled Undercover Purchases on eBay and Craigslist Reveal a Market for Sensitive and Stolen U.S. Military Items, the beancounters of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) lay out the shocking facts. It turns out that GAO agents operating "undercover" (on the internet) in recent months were able to purchase the following items on the named webmarts.

It looks like a normal flashlight, but Homeland Security has paid close to a million dollars for it. It can stop you right in your tracks.

al-Qaida Videos Now on Cell Phones
Al-Qaida video messages of Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri can now be downloaded to cell phones, the terror network announced as part of its attempts to extend its influence.
The announcement was posted late Friday by al-Qaida's media wing, al-Sahab, on Web sites commonly used by Islamic militants. As of Saturday, eight previously recorded videos were made available including a recent tribute to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the former al-Qaida in Iraq leader killed by U.S. forces in Iraq in June 2006.
