The Treasury Department agency entrusted with blocking the financial resources of terrorists told Congress that at the end of last year it had just four full-time employees dedicated to investigating Osama bin Laden's and Saddam Hussein's wealth while nearly two dozen were working on Cuban embargo violations.

Globalization vs. Americanization
A friend, well traveled and educated, recently predicted the evils of globalization in very simple terms. "Everyone will be eating at McDonald's, listening to Madonna and shopping at mega-malls,'' he prophesied. "It'll be absolutely awful.''
What I told him then is that globalization is not the same as Americanization, though sometimes it's hard for Americans to make that distinction. The most crucial aspect of globalization is the psychological transformation that's affecting people everywhere.

Photos of a motorcycle ride through Chernobyl
I have ridden all my life and over the years I have owned several different bikes. I ended my search for a perfect bike with a big Kawasaki Ninja that boasts a mature 147 horse power, some serious bark, is fast as a bullet and comfortable for a long trips.
I travel a lot and one of my favorite destinations is through the so called Chernobyl "dead zone", which is 130kms from my home. Why my favorite? Because one can take long rides there and not see any single car or any single soul.
The people there all left and nature is blooming. There are beautiful woods and lakes.

Taliban, Al Qaeda Cash in on Afghan Opium
Hundreds of millions of dollars a year from Afghanistan's illicit drug trade end up in the pockets of Islamic militant groups like the Taliban and al Qaeda, the head of the U.N. drug-fighting body said Tuesday. U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa also said there were no signs of the country's rampant opium output abating this year, meaning Afghanistan was in grave danger of becoming a narco-state.
