Losses at Oprah's OWN approach a staggering $330m as industry insiders predict it will be axed within the year
The losses at Oprah Winfrey’s troubled cable channel are approaching a staggering $330 million, according to a report over the weekend.
Industry insiders believe the channel - the Oprah Winfrey network (OWN) - will not last another year unless they come up with a hit show and make a dramatic turnaround.
Though ratings have seen a slight insurgence thanks to interview program Oprah's Next Chapter, it has stumbled since the get go with ratings of just 308,000 daily.

Kermit has run afoul of Germany's media authorities. ZAK, the federal commission charged with regulating the German airwaves, found Kermit guilty of illegal product placement in an appearance last year on commercial network Pro7.

Charles and David Koch are each worth about $25bn, which makes them the fourth richest Americans. When you combine their fortunes, they are the third wealthiest people in the world. Radical libertarians who use their money to oppose government and virtually all regulation as interference with the free market, the Kochs are in a class of their own as players on the American political stage. Their web of influence in the US stretches from state capitals to the halls of congress in Washington DC.
The Koch brothers fueled the conservative Tea Party movement that vigorously opposes Barack Obama, the US president. They fund efforts to derail action on global warming, and support politicians who object to raising taxes on corporations or the wealthy to help fix America’s fiscal problems. According to New Yorker writer Jane Mayer, who wrote a groundbreaking exposé of the Kochs in 2010, they have built a top to bottom operation to shape public policy that has been "incredibly effective. They are so rich that their pockets are almost bottomless, and they can keep pouring money into this whole process".
Koch industries, the second largest privately-held company in the US, is an oil refining, chemical, paper products and financial services company with revenues of a $100bn a year. Virtually every American household has some Koch product - from paper towels and lumber, to Stainmaster carpet and Lycra in sports clothes, to gasoline for cars. The Koch’s political philosophy of rolling back environmental and financial regulations is also beneficial to their business interests.

Nicht nur, weil die Serie mit den triefenden Anrufen des verhinderten Büroleiters Niko Pelinka (Nicolas Ofczarek) für eine der fettigsten Parodien aller Zeiten sorgte. Nicht nur, weil Fundstücke wie der Wikipedia-Eintrag von Reinhart Gaugg ("dass der Absatz , Politische Karriere' nur halb so lang ist wie ,Alkohol am Steuer'") sicher verwertet werden.

Kirch-Erben und Deutsche Bank einigten sich auf Vergleich - Bank zahlt 800 Millionen Euro
Die Erben des verstorbenen Medienzars Leo Kirch und die Deutsche Bank sollen sich auf einen Vergleich in ihrem milliardenschweren Streit um die Pleite des Kirch Konzerns im Jahre 2002 geeinigt haben, berichten Bild.de und das Manager Magazin. Demnach soll Deutschlands größtes Geldhaus der Kirch-Seite unter 800 Millionen Euro zahlen. Im Gegenzug sind damit alle Schadenersatzforderungen erledigt.

Verfassungsschutz aufgepasst! Die ARD lässt Menschen zu Wort kommen, die die Abschaffung des Geheimdienstes fordern. Hat Günther Jauch eigentlich schon eine Akte beim Bundesamt? Nein? Dann wird es Zeit. Und nicht nur für ihn.

es tut uns leid, aber Sie müssen jetzt handeln. Dringend. Sie hatten hoffentlich jemanden beauftragt, mit Wochenend- und Nachtzuschlag, Günther Jauch zu beobachten. Dort sollte diskutiert werden, ob Sie die Linken-Abgeordneten bespitzeln dürfen und dabei vielleicht auf dem rechten Auge blind sind (enthüllt durch den SPIEGEL).
Fernsehen ist ja eine, wie es bei Ihnen heißt, offene Quelle. Also Informationen gewinnen ohne "nachrichtendienstliche" Mittel wie Observieren, Abhören, oder V-Männer. So günstig kriegen Sie Staatsfeinde nie wieder frei Haus geliefert. Denn so viel Aufklärung ist heute nicht mehr üblich, schon gar nicht im Fernsehen. Am Sonntagabend haben sich wieder ein paar Leute für Ihre Arbeit qualifiziert, als Objekt der Begierde oder auch als Mitarbeiter.

A list of the biggest, most epic Fox News FAILs of the past year. While even Fox admits that most of their shows are not actually "news", viewers still expect them to get their facts straight. Unfortunately for the network (and the IQs of those who watch), this does not always happen. Perhaps this is why polls indicate that FNC fans know less about the news than people who watch no news at all? Just throwing it out there...

TorTV is a build of the Tor Project maintained to run on TV devices and set-top boxes, so that anyone with such an household appliance can contribute to strengthen the Tor network.
Easy to deploy user downloads are provided, as well some developer documentation and mostly the code used: TorTV does not reimplements nor modifies the Tor source code in any way, it just provides binaries for embedded targets and some scripting to facilitate ease of installation.

Wenn Behörden ein Leben zerstören - "Wadim", 0.00 Uhr, NDR
Ein freundlicher und fröhlicher Mann tötet sich selbst - mit 23 Jahren. Wie es dazu kam, zeigt die NDR-Doku "Wadim" in allen erschütternden Details. Die gnadenlose Abschiebepraxis deutscher Behörden hat den in Deutschland aufgewachsenen Letten in die Verzweiflung getrieben.
