Time runs out for some '24' actors
"24's" Counter Terrorism Unit will undergo some major downsizing this fall.
Sources said that the actors who play Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) CTU colleagues on the Fox drama have been informed that their options as series regulars will not be picked up for next season.

Sony to ship Wi-Fi LCD TV this autumn
Sony will ship its first wireless, Internet-enabled TV this autumn, the consumer electronics giant announced yesterday.
Dubbed the LocationFree TV, the unit is based on an LCD panel and an integrated tri-mode Wi-Fi adaptor. Sony will offer two models, one with a 12in, 800 x 600 display, the other a more portable 7in, 800 x 480 panel.

Anke Engelke: Eine Million Zuschauer verloren
Anke Engelkes Late Night Show hat bereits am zweiten Tag fast eine Million Zuschauer verloren. Nur noch rund 1,5 Millionen Menschen wollten 'Anke Late Night' am Dienstag sehen.
Am Montag hatten noch 2,46 Mio. Menschen die Premiere der neuen Sendung auf dem Bildschirm verfolgt. Die Kritiken dazu waren allerdings überwiegend negativ.

Am Montag gilt es: Anke Engelke tritt die Nachfolge von Harald Schmidt an. Bei der Generalprobe versucht sie, cool zu bleiben.
Zu Beginn der Generalprobe ihrer Late-Night-Show reißt Anke Engelke die Arme hoch, als wüsste sie schon jetzt, dass ihre Sendung ein Erfolg wird. "Ich bin funky drauf", ruft sie ins Publikum. "Aber auch ein bisschen aufgeregt. Mein Team hat mir geraten, dass ich mir einfach vorstellen soll, wie ihr nackt ausseht." Lautes Lachen. "Und jetzt bin ich ganz geil." Noch lauteres Lachen.

NHJ Wrist TV VTV
The US division of Japanese NHJ Limited sent us a sample of their wearable TV VTV-101. To say the least, I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to review this new Ueber Gadget. As far as I know I4U is the first to publish a review of the VTV-101.

Verspäteter Aprilscherz? Angeblich soll gleich nach den Osterfeiertagen Klausjürgen Wussow (74) in den "Big Brother"-Container einziehen! In seiner Rolle als Professor Brinkmann soll er mit den Bewohnern die "Schwarzwaldklinik" inszenieren.

I got tired of the rather low quality cable box that AT&T Broadband provides with their digital cable service. It's slow to change channels, ridden with ads, and the program guide is a joke. So, I figured it'd be fun to try and build a replacement. Yes, I could have just bought a TiVo, but I wanted to have more than just a PVR -- I want a webbrowser built in, a mail client, maybe some games. Basically, I want the mythical convergence box that's been talked about for a few years now.
So, in late April 2002, I started tinkering with stuff. I bought a cheap TV tuner card from BestBuy, and threw it into my desktop box (P3-550). I started playing around with different video encoders, and eventually decided that NuppelVideo provided the best quality video for the amount of CPU it took up. It's based on a modified RTjpeg codec, and it looks rather nice, in my opinion.

Nudity on Television 1950 - 2000
In the Golden Days of 1950s television, the idea of nudity on the air was unheard of. Oh, there were the occasional accidental bits of nudity that resulted from a woman's breast falling out of her dress during a live broadcast or a male celebrity forgetting to pull up his zipper, but there wasn't very much else (except perhaps, for the police drama THE NAKED CITY, but that doesn't count.)
